• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Please help!

I need to know what is next on my list, I have replaced my plugs and wires, and had my cat and u-bend cut out, I still haven't gotten an o2 sensor emulator, as it is the weekend, my car still bogs, stalls, idles rough, and struggles at high rpms, and my fuel efficiency has gone from 450+ kms in town to under 300, it sounds like something else could be clogged other than the cat that is now gone and I can smell gas, what could cause it to run rich? And would it be the same thing that is causing the misfires and poor idle and poor acceleration? My next plan is to replace my coil packs... Any thoughts and inputs ASAP are very appreciated as I drive my car for a living and haven't been able to work in almost a week... I need my money maker to run tip top!!!

What is the EGR? And yes double triple quadruple checked plugs and wires.... Checked MAF, car bogs down and idles bad with it unplugged..

If its a GTP are you running premium fuel? I know its a dumb question but you would be suprised how many ppl dont know this.

EGR is a little canister by the throttle body. Exhaust gas recirculation. Also, if you replace coils, check the ICM as well. The ICM is what the coils sit on. Also, my PCV valve was stuck and my car ran like crap.

It's a 1999, I checked my fuel filter today to make sure it had been changed and noticed that my fuel lines are hot to the touch after the car had been driven for less than ten minutes... What could cause this? Maybe this is why it's running bad?

We do try our best. I'm serious on that. It seems like you were upset about your car and maybe meant your last comment sarcastically.

For a free resource, which is usually better than a mechanic... we try.

From your side. A bit of information would have been helpful. When typing out a post, you need to tell us everything that we can't see or know about your car. Your first post didn't tell us what year, make or model. We could assume a GP, however I drive a sister car, the Regal. Other stuff that would have helped would have been more descriptive. You mentioned that you replaced some stuff and the car still bogs. Ok, so when did this start, did you recently buy the car, we aren't there and don't know your car's history. Then you talk about an emulator, that makes us think you modded the car...which would lead us to wanting to know what you've done.

From your last question... the fuel lines get warm, because they are directly over hot exhaust pipes.

On your blew up post. Are you keeping. What blew up.. what happened.

I am throwing a code for "traction control" which can cause all of the symptoms that I've been having, oh, my car is a 99 gtp, and after it warns up even slightly, cylinders 2-5 all misfire up to 20 times, at random times... Sometimes causing the car to stall... I have a lack of power at high rpms, and very poor fuel mileage... Also very skippy missing puffing popping rough idle, bad enough to make me put the car in neutral at red lights just to keep it alive

Cylinders 2 and 5 are on the same coil pack. Obviously you have access to some sort of scan tool to know what cylinders are misfiring. Swap the 2 5 coil pack with one of the other ones but keep plug wires hooked up same way they are now (meaning ignore the numbers on the coil pack). If the misfires move to different cylinders corresponding with the coil pack u switched than replace the 2 5 coil. if the misfires stay on cylinders 2 5 replace the ignition module. Start there then report back.

What he said ^ Start there and report back. Sounds like you have a bad coil or ICM.

Uh.. WTF? How a traction control light and misfires is blew up is beyond me. This thread sounds like a bit of drama.

Do what the guys suggested.
There is no such thing as a code for traction control. There is a light for it. Is the ABS light also lit?

Symptoms of the code p1571 traction control are as follows...low or no fuel pressure....no start... Lack of power .... Rough running... Erratic performance.... Which is the code im throwing... And I worded my last post wrong in saying cylinders 2-5, meaning 2,3,4, and 5 are all randomly misfiring... Numbers 1 and 6 did not misfire at all, once my new pump arrives and we put it in, I will see how that goes, if the problem continues I will do some coil pack swapping to see what that does...
