under moderate to heavy acceleration i get a ,well almost sounds like a ping but ive run 93 octane with no resolve,it does it when cold but more so when its at normal temp,i run mobil 1 10/30 have put lucus in and it still did it ,no dic or trouble codes pop on the dash allthough i never put a code scanner on it ,idk im lost maybe its a bad sensor but i would think i would have something flash on the dash , any help would be awsome...04 gran prix gt2 3.8 n/a
 


lol no :th_laugh-pointup: it sounds like im using the wrong grade fuel but like i said i tried 87 to 93 and i also used a octane booster with no resolve
 
does it sound like a misfire at all? I would start by examining your plugs to see if they are cracked or look at your plug wires too.......does it idle normally?
 
it idles good just replaced the plugs and wires with autolite double platnums and used accell 8 mm wires it was doing it before the tune up though :th_scratchhead: no misfire

does it do it when you rev it in the driveway? If it does have someone rev the car while you try to pinpoint which part of the motor or whatever it is the sound is coming from. How many miles are on the car? Could it be an exhaust leak/tick? Are you sure it is engine internal or could it be something rubbing when under acceleration?
 


Were you able to resolve the pinging issue?

Mine has the same ping when I accelerate. I have read that this is normal on these engines.
