"Overheating" Issue

The car went into the "A/C Off to Protect Engine" mode last night because the temp gauge was dead. Going by past experience, I changed the coolant temp sensor. It's doing exactly the same thing. The gauge is just as dead.

Any ideas?

And I already swapped out the sensor for an OEM one.

Could be the wiring to the sensor. Did you unhook the battery after the sensor replacement?

I try never to touch the battery in that car, for obvious reasons, but will try it and see if that fixes it.
