Has anyone done a oil pan gasket. I need to replace my. I have a engine cradle holder. I have most of all the tool and gasket. Does anyone have a full write up or a How-To. I have a 2004 3.8 N/A

I have replaced mine on my old GP. Its definitely a pain job to do. Gotta remove motor mounts and raise engine a couple inches. How bad does urs leak

About 2 quats every oil every change. Also my next job it the lim gasket too.

Yea get that changed. 1 qrt every oil change seems to be normal according to GM but 2 sure isn't. At least you have a Cherry picker so it makes it a bit easier.

He has way more to worry about then the gasket. My god I couldn't even make it a minute into the video before stopping it. The cancer is horrible!

Bro I didn't think changing that gasket would be hard. It took me five hours and alot of cuss words. The bolts for the motor mounts are a *****

This is what I'm using to pick up the motor. It was $50 at harbor freight.
The video nice but the car is a 3.8 III with the aluminum sub-frame.

Does that have the aluminum pan or the steel pan. If it's the aluminum pan, it's a super easy fix. If it's leaking, most likely it's the steel pan and the hardest part is that darn U bracket that is bolted on the motor. I personally ripped it off, had an aluminum pan and the new bracket waiting. It's worlds easier to swap and do.

my lim leaks about 1.5 to 2 quarts through the top between the v/c and intake every oil change also depends on the oil i use weirdly enough

my car has the aluminum sub-frame and a steel oil pan.. how hard would it be to add the aluminum pan. anyone can post the part number and I take a look at the cost. I have the a new oil pan gasket for the steel pan. can it be reused or not.

GM came out with a TSB years ago on the oil pan leak on these engines. They say to put a 1/4 bead of RTV sealant on each side of the gasket. I use Permatex ultra grey. Considering how much of a pain this job is I always use RTV on the gasket.
