Oil changes

He put in new lifters, hence why the top end is torn down.

Our cars only have 2 o2 sensors, they are so dumb compared to cars with 4 sensors, 2 for each bank.

The pcm does not care where you get the readings from because it cant even tell which side of the motor is having the problem to an exstent.

So putting it in the front crossover is fine and makes it easy to get at. It not something you have to do.

I did that because of the location for the front O2 in speed daddy headers is dumb and requires bashing in your firewall. Even then, the wires can become damaged every time you go into reverse.

Seems pointless to constantly damage your front O2 sensor.

yeah, i knew it was something with the valve train and/or topend somewhere... I just didnt know if he was in the beggining, middle, or end of what he was doing so in my head i figured he could have been doing anything.......Oh well, but anyway thats the first ive ever seen a O2 sensor in that location on a 3800....LOL, I thought it was a special mod or something....well at least u have easy access to it

I made sure my o2 cleared lol

I run Mobil 1 EP and Mobil 1 filter in the Minivan. It says it's good to 15,000 miles. I would never take it that far though. I just check the oil once a month to check the level, color and smell. Then I judge when to change it based on that.

I run the same stuff in the Camaro too. But since it leaks oil so much. I have replaced it all by the time it is time to do an oil change on it. Like my Dad always said with older cars. Top off the gas and fill up with oil. lol

I short trip my car, oil breaks down way faster, hence why I need to change it every 2k.

Definitely a little overkill.

The best way to tell when to change your oil is get an analysis done. If you are running synthetic, it is worth it. If you are running regular oil, it is not really worth it, just change it.

But I do agree with the article that 3k mile oil changes are not necessary for newer vehicles.

I run regular oil, car dont need synthetic. Its 5.5 miles round trip for work, motor is never really "warm".

The other half to my 2k oil changes is that I do 3 a year, once every 4 month, and that just so happens to be right around the 2,000 miles mark. I planned on sending in my oil to blackstone just for ****s and giggles to see what the oil is really like after what i put my car through.

Ive always kept up on my oil changes.. Have changed a few diff brands of oil and filters. Been using mobil 5000 clean for about a year along with wix filter, and I can say that around 3000 4000 miles of usage the oil looks twice as clean as what it did before using other brands!! My last oil got sent to blackstone.. Havent got the results yet...
