"Touring All-Season"
225/60/R16

400 Miles driven

I bought two of these tires just before it snowed last winter, as my car needed some new ones in the rear. I originally hadn't planned on these, but the installer suggested them and they are a decent price, so I went with them. They are very quiet and have had only slight wear in the 400 miles I have driven on them. I have not had any problems with traction. I really have no complaints with them so far, but I'm not so sure abut the tread life yet.

I give them 7.5/10

Standard Touring All-Season
225/60/16

8k miles? maybe more...

I bought 4 of these things and I wish I would have got something more sticky having a torquey vehicle. In my opinion, they are not made for GP's...However, they are a nice quiet tire and they corner fine in the rain, believe me I push my limits. They are holding tread pretty decent. There is a difference by touch between front and rear but I have been to the track a few times so whatevs. They do fine in dry weather pretty much, but when it rains you can't jab the pedal or give it too much throttle without spin. BUT I will say that in the past few thousand miles, they seem to have gotten a bit more stickier... So maybe they just needed wearing in.
Overall, get something else.

6/10

  • Grand Touring All-Season
  • 225/60/16
  • 42000 miles + whatever previous owner did (~10k miles)
  • Good all-season tire, absolutely no flat spots and balancing issues. I didn't rotate them religiously and they're still fine. After ~30k miles wet traction suffered. They are practically bald now and I'm looking for a replacement. They were replaced by DEFENDER iirc.

Bought a full set of four, ended up paying around $680 I believe mounted/balanced, got them slightly discounted. I've driven about 3,000 miles so far on these. No complaints yet. Very sticky tire, living in Florida I didn't need an all-season tire. I feel a little bit of slip if I try to get on it in the rain, but that's to be expected. Also to be expected with a slightly stiffer than normal sidewall, you feel more bumps(that's also due to my suspension). I drive a bit spirited at times, and these tires keep up. Can't really judge treadwear yet, still early, but none noticeable yet, I'll expect(and hope) to get around 20k out of them.

Set of 4. Grippy, quiet. The last Kumhos that I had (AST's), the tread life was horrible. Only had 10k miles on them and the tread was getting low. So we'll see in 10K miles how well the tread on these last. (Dont hold your breath, I doubt this site will be around by the time I put 10k miles on them)

8/10 for now.

MICHELIN
Pilot HX MXM4

245/50r17
35,000 miles (Second set)

Bought these new a month after buying car. Had Yokohama YK520 in stock 225/55 size. Nice, but they got scary, easy. MXM4 impressed the entire time on nearly every surface and did it quietly and predictably. Dry is not crisp, but more forgiving and still able to be aimed. Magna-steer is the lick with these under power; perfectly grabby and the MXM4 transitions well under the duress that FWD vehicles provide. Rain acceleration from a 30 punch on my stock Comp G (on good highway pavement) was perfect for the grip level of these; slight spin the whole way with perfect control. Mud is not recommended. Snow doesn't really happen here, but ice traction was better than I expected, but it still sucked. FIRST SET 30k.

Bought same size Michelin Pilot A/S+ after the MXM4s were down to 4/32. Dry handling was WAY better with the MXM4s and they really have to be punished to scream like the A/S did under way lighter angles. Wet was about the same except in wet cornering, where the A/S really shined. No ice or snow feedback. 5k later, I sold them and opted again for the MXM4s.

Good lord. Almost $175-200 per tire with a tread rating of 300. I'm sorry but that ****ing sucks, maybe you should opt for a better tire that wont rape your pocket book.

no cam, I'm rocking A/S plus right now.

Wet corning is downright scary.

Literally I can take 90* corners at 25-30 mph.

Haven't found the dry cornering limit yet, frankly afraid to.

Straight line traction is awesome.

Tire will loose grip for an instant, but quickly catch again, making little to no noise and away you go.

I'm talking about those MXM4's, but anyway to "ME" anyway you never get your money out of Michelins, cept for maybe 1 or 2 of there tires that have the 700+ tread rating and really go that far.

I have no doubts that they grip like no other, but for what you pay and how long they last its just not worth it.

If you use the grip, its worth it.

At the rate I was using my fuel max tires, I would have only seen 10 000 miles out of them. They're a 65 000 mile tire too. So we'll see how long these A/S + tires last.

Tires with super long tread life tend to turn into hockey pucks and are basically useless to a more aggressive driver after a very short period of time.

I don't care how long a tire lasts if it doesn't stick like your driving style deserves. Longevity is a tie breaker in my decision; ride, noise, wet/dry handling are what tires are important for my use of this car. Power means nothing without control. Between my vehicles and the miles I drive, I easily buy a full set every year. I kick myself every time I try to get out cheap. Not worth it to me, but some cars definitely like some tires better than others.

IMO there are certain consumable things things that you don't buy cheap on a car; tires, batteries and windshield wipers all come to mind.

I work in a tire shop and by far the best tires are consistently anything that Michelin makes. and ignore the goodyear hype. these tires are terrible, we have so many people return them because of problems with them. I need some help deciding on some rims. I am able to get any rims from discount tire for retail price. and I have a 2 door red grand prix gt 1999. they must be from discount tire and be 16 inch rims so right now I am kinda torn between the "MB wheels viper" black and sliver......and between the Drag DR-9 black rims with gloss lips. any advice on either of these two rims?

What you guys think of Falken vs any other brand? Im looking for something with a nice ride and quiet. I still got factory rims.

Bought 4. So far I'm very happy with these tires. In thick unplowed snow they get very good grip. Trying to back out of a driveway where the plows have piled it up there is very little spin. On dry pavement they are a little noisy which is expected but it's not bad at all. Turn the radio on and you won't even notice. It's hard to even get the car to slide on an unplowed parking lot. I'd give them a 8 out of 10.

Awesome tire in the snow, especially for such a non aggressive tread pattern. I've made it up hills I never would've thought I could. Plowed snow enough that it was up in the subframe and cooling fans. Never got stuck. My Cadillac had this same tire but in a 235/55/17 and it was just as good, if not better in the snow. Dry traction is good, but doesn't handle as good as i'd like. I'd say it's due to the large soft sidewall. These tires ride very nice. Much much nicer than my Bridgestone Potenza G009's, although my Potenza's handled better. Back to the Michelin. Wet handling is as expected. Doesn't feel loose or anything, but it's still a large soft sidewall that's not meant for performance. My Cadillac felt like it handled better, likely because of the smaller sidewall.

I'd give them an 8/10 because of the lack of handling. When I got them they were number 1 in their category. Not sure if they still are or not.

I bought a whole set, two sets actually. I found a set on Craiglist for cheap for my Cadillac. After selling my Cadillac I decided I wanted another set for the Prix. Would I buy them again? I think so. I like them and it's nice knowing how the ride and react. I'd rather buy another set vs trying something different and not liking them.

1000 miles YES 100 miles.

i absolutely hated these tires. they was extremely loud and was out of round. i felt like i was riding eggs.. i have super swampers on my truck at home and it gave me a better ride. quieter too. i will never buy these tires again i wiuldnt even recommend them to my enemies.. when i replaced them with toyo extenza hp i was able to look at the tread on them.. but i couldnt find any!! it was gone.. down to cords!!! i am not an aggressive driver by any means. sure ill get into it but only on a rolling start no burning them off.. my reccomendation.. dont buy them

I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a tire that is the closest thing to a drag slick but is street legal and highway safe. I want to be able to drive to the track.
