No Start-Fuel pump?

So i got a 99 gtp and and the last day or two it has been more difficult to start and it was taking longer. at first i thought it might be the starter going out but i went up to orielly's today i went to back out and i got about halfways out of the parking stall and it died and now it wont start. I think it might be the fuel pump cuz its not a fuse and i checked the box inside the engine compartment too. My car has 135,000 miles and i was wondering is this normal for one to go out this soon/should it have gone out a while ago? On a scale of 1 to 10 how dificult is it to replace and where can i find a cheap oem replacement? they wanted $250 for one at oriellys. All help is appreciated

Could be the fuel pump resistor. bend the 85 or 86 pin out and try to start it. Also try starting it with starting fluid.

Btw its my only car and i dont feel like riding my bike 18 miles one way to work so the sooner the better

how do i know which pin is which? and im pretty sure i have spark based on the way it died but im gonna check for pressure...where would be best to check?

Check at the shrader port on the fuel rail, starting fluid is not a good idea because you have to spray it on the maf.

Its on the fuel rail and it looks like a Valve stem cap on your tires

I dont see anywhere that anyone said FPR yet.

Pull the vacuum line off the FPR, if fuel comes out that may be a cause of the problem as well. If its completely shot, the can cant hold fuel pressure.

Just another thing to check.

kick the gas tank a couple times. that's free and easy, and no lie, i've done it in a parking lot and in the shop to start cars and isolate the fuel pump.

as for the shrader port would there be one right in front and middle that has a little twist on cap? and im guessing i would need a pressure tester? and i dont think it would be the filter cuz some would still get through it just wouldnt be very responsive. As for the resistor if i bent that out could i bend it back without it breaking? and what would it do to bend it out? and what is the fpr valve? where is it located and what does it do?

shrader valve yes your on spot there. open the top under it looks like a tire air stem, put a rag over it, and push the middle in with a screw driver, if its got pressure gas will spurt out of it.

the relay pin, yeah it should bend back .

fpr= fuel pressure regulator.

thanks where is the fpr and what does it look like? btw thanks for all the help guys. im a rookie when it comes to my grand prix

there's a filter in the pump and one in the line under the car. they're talking about the one in the line, kinda under the driver's door. the fuel pressure regulator is the other piece pictured above, with the vacuum line under it. and when you hit the schroeder valve, you hit the one directly on the rail right? not the one with the green cap? because that's an evap port. but yeah, if you didn't have any pressure, you need a fuel pump. to be sure, turn your key to ignition and you should hear the pump prime. it's a little whining noise coming from the back of the car, will last for 3 seconds or so. no noise, bad pump. also, hit the valve again after you key on and see if you get gas. if no, bad pump.
