No start a few days after LIM change

I changed the LIM gasket in this girls car for her and it ran fine after i realized i didn't hook up a fuel injector. I didn't put the little clips back on the fuel injectors where they clip to the rail but i didn't think i would need to. It will start and run off starting fluid and then magically have fuel pressure after running for about 30 seconds. Shut it off for a few hours and it won't start even after priming the pump ( no pressure again). Anyone have any suggestions? OH and i already changed the fuel filter.
 


The clips are not neccesary for it to run, like you said, nut it makes sure the pulg is all the way on the injector. Maybe the fuel pump relay is going bad.
 
i swapped the relay with another one and double checked all the injectors, still the same thing. This car is driving me nuts.
 
yeah. It will run if you spray starting fluid in it and it will magically get fuel pressure and run fine then if it sits for a few hours it won't start back up.
 


my next guess would be the fuel pump
either the pump itself or the wiring for the fuel system, like the relay or the sending unit
 
The car isn't at my house anymore so i can't pull the plugs but i'll bet they aren't it doesn't have any fuel pressure until i start it with starting fluid and it runs for about 30 seconds.
 
drive it and give it some gas... does it bog down after a bit? if so its doing exactly what mine did when my fuel pump went.... edit didnt see the 2nd page... most likely its the fuel pump. when mine failed completely i would get about 12 psi at the rail which isnt enough for it to start the car. you need 40 psi if i remember right...
 
It would start off starting fluid and then magically get fuel pressure and run fine no bogging or anything but then if it sat for a few hours then it wouldn't start again. Its fixed now she just took it to a mechanic. I'll have to ask her what was wrong with it.
