No display

Not sure what they are called yet as I have not had time to go through the owners manual of my 2000 GTP. Anyway the center display above the stereo does not light up/display anything, nor does my stereo. If I shine a light at the display at night I can barely make out something but nothing clearly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

That's the DIC drivers information center. Maybe the bulbs are burnt out. The radio display probably went bad it's pretty common.

So just the stereo and the DIC?
Is the gauge cluster lighting up?

Don't know what the gauge cluster is but what might be the fix? I was hoping for something as simple as a fuse but my life's philosophy is expect the worst and hope for the best...

Check the fuse. There is one inside the car and one under the hood. When I was doing a radio install for whatever reason I blew a fuse. The radio wouldnt turn on, and the display on the DIC wouldnt work. My ABS light also came on for whatever reason. My car and my brother's car both did all this same stuff when it blew the fuse under the hood.

Apparently it is the DIC I am referring to as the dash lights are okay. Can anyone tell me what fuses to look at in the dash and under the hood? Strange coincidence I hope that it will be the same one for stereo display???

But the radio works. Only way I know what station is on is displayed in the HUD. Ironically the CD player just stopped working though....

I did a Google search as well as YouTube and could not find anything relating to my DIC and stereo not illuminating. Anybody?????

I actually have a similar problem. 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT.
DIC does not light up at all. No stereo lights, or any of the information panels above it like the Trac control, etc. AC lights below work fine, as well as the gauge cluster. Just seems confined to that one area.

My light bulb burned out for the stereo in my gp, its common for a bulb to burn out after ten years or so. Go to ebay and type in "pontiac radio light". They have sellers that have the bulb. As for the DIC i believe its just a 194 light bulb in a little plastic socket. To replace both DIC and stereo lights you have to remove the dash trim piece. Hope that helps.

Agreed. Today was an off day so I went through and removed my entire dash panel, rechecked my entire fuse box. Pretty much just turns out the DIC and Stereo bulbs burnt out and that's it.

Was it very difficult to get inside the dash to replace the bulbs and can you provide any tips? Thanks. I keep trying to find something on YouTube but may be using the wrong phrases...

I pretty much just popped the dash plate off, it was pretty easy since the previous owner obviously didn't care for the car, it was a bit loose for me. All you do from there is take off the faceplate of the DiC, then unscrew both sides, I forget which size but it's a pretty small hex screw, and viola. You'll be presented with three bulbs. I believe there is a more accurate, in-depth How-To on the forums. Just use the search function since this is a pretty common issue.
