• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

New toy/project 1998 Sea Ray Seville

I'm not going overboard har har har.

Buzzed over to a fabric/vinyl etc warehouse that's local and in the remnant rack at $6/yard was a lot of marine white vinyl...$32 bucks out the door with enough to do all the cushions on seats and the back cushions. All I'd need to buy is a about 3 yards for the sides if I wanted. And since some of the cushions are cracking at the bottom, it's a matter of time til that low cost vinyl is put to use. None of this is needed to get it in the water, so I'm not doing any of it before the maiden voyage.

Picked up a Lowrance 4 with gps and navionics loaded. Higher model is $329. Nice thing here is if you record as you are cruising, you can overlay those depths only the existing maps that do give you depths. Had a $50 rebate with it. :th_thumbsup-wink: Not yet installed and doesn't need to be for maiden voyage.

Dock lines, throwable, signaling flashlight etc arrived today. Need to snag two really nice life jackets for us and one for a kid just in case. That way there's the right number on board in the right sizes. I do need a second anchor, ok..just bought it.

Why am I writing this while I could be messing around with the Lowrance?

i got lost in the fog once,,,,,once! (johnny dangerously quote for those who care lol) next day i got a 800 dollar garmin. i could hook it up to my pc, and put way points in on the pc that i could follow once on the water. like the way to the shipping lanes markers back up from raritan bay to the hudson river.

after i had it i got fogged in, and with out it i would have beached it on the rockaways lol im like it says land is right there, yet you could not see land, no gps i would have crashed it maybe.

This is likely the equivalent to that unit.

Has GPS (super accurate)
Has depths on maps
Will allow you to record and upload to their site and share/update your own maps with those depths etc. (one of the main reasons I got it)
And it has the navionics which is a $200 add on to any of the other units. Sure the 5" or 7" screen is awesome, but then on top of the additional cost of the larger unit you then have to add the nav card. Yikes.

I don't want to feel blind if there's fog
I don't want to feel lost ever
This little thing should give me some added help until I learn the way and even then it'll be helpful.

Last night's update isn't all that exciting so hold on and I'll try to wordsmith this to add some excitement.

Pulled cover off and let it air out, put cover on later, bought wrong spare prop at 10pm. I tried to tell you it wasn't so exciting.

Second part of seat, carpeting on front valence and speakers DONE

Also installed the carpet into the ski locker. Tomorrow morning, I'll pull the car out and let the carpet for the boat relax flat for the day. Then it's install, drop in the captain's chair and likely rebuild the back to back passenger seat. After that....I'm fairly done to get it in the water and use it. Sure there's plenty of other things to do... but they will come in time.

Oh...and it got registered today. So .... anytime I want to dunk it in the water...it's cool.

Carpet is unrolled in the garage to relax it. Tonight should be the install.

My list is shrinking daily. Here's what is left
Attach speedo tube at cluster (more of a reminder, should take no time)
Get spare prop
Fix passenger seat (rebuild similar to rear)
Carpet floor (should be tonight)
Horn (need a replacement)
Detail boat (can't go out without looking good)
Put new registration numbers/stickers on

capt must be sober, or dwi time, just like a car. pretty strict about it here.

the rest of you can be puking your guts up over the side if you like lol

not, dwi's happen all the time on the water, and they take your drivers lic. you can kill everyone on board sober easy enough, why drive a boat trashed?

I'm really craving some beer battered catfish... Only fish up here are salmon and trout, few others here and there but not often enough of a catch.

Definitely no catfish...

Yeah..dui is nasty on boat. Round here they don't hassle you much, but why chance it.

Carpet is in... driver seat is in. The wood on the bottom of it might be sketchy. If so.. it'll get fixed. Tomorrow is possible rain, which is fine for recreating the passenger seat. I think I have just the right amount of plywood to finish the job.

Exactly.. and I tell you that back bench is friggin comfy.

Hoping friday is the day for water. still have a few things to get done and I'm unsure if it can all be done that fast.

you got sea tow, or boat us up there? thats tow insurance. its well worth it, used to be about 125 a year. but if you need to be towed back to dock it can run up to and way above 400 with out it. and they want money now!!!!!
they also do jump starts and bring gas to you and will save your boat from sinking if they can get there in time of course.

Buddy Dan has tons of friends... he used to be on the water 3-4 days a week. I'll be good for a while just through him. Gotta take a shake down cruise, gonna take a shake down cruise. See if she is worthy.
