New MazdaSpeed3

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

I did a 284 swap in my impala. That is my thread on naioa. Whatever clutch you get, make sure the input shaft seal is not leaking as it will cause any clutch to fail rather quickly.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

dude i've been on the fence for awhile now with 5speed swapping my car.

youre making it harder for me to convince myself to stay auto

Honestly Its a huge risk. I know the trans was good when I pulled it but who knows what could happen down the road. I have probley one of the last even in existence. If the swap fails ill convert back auto, sell the car and buy a gto or a firebird.

You don't need a plastic oil pan gasket with an aluminum pan. It gets GM engine bond/Great stuffed and that's it.

Yea im gonna use the right stuff but on the gm diagram it showed this gasket aswell as that stuff so I got it. 45 bucks for the dam thing though.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

It would have been $30 something if you bought it as part of the lower conversion kit (FelPro)

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

It would of been $20 at my cost but I was at the dealer and I get cost there aswell so I just said order it not thinking they pay 45 for the thing lol. oh well

So do you think since I have it I might as well use it or don't bother?

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

I have only seen an inlaid rubber on 2000 Bonnevilles. Otherwise if it has an aluminum pan, all I've found is engine sealant.

James would be the one to ask if you can still run it.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

The holes will line up because the blocks are the same. You don't need anything other than sealant with an aluminum pan.

I was not referring to the block, I was referring to the windage tray holes.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Don't use the plastic gasket. Ultra gray RTV.

I can't see the plastic gasket lasting long supporting the weight of the engine.
