New gxp rubber? look bio!

If your going to run the same size all around I would at least keep with the factory size.

Only because on average the 245/45 will be 1.3% off. Your speedo would read 60mph but you will actually be going 59.2.

go to Tire size calculator plug in the stock size and you can play with the variables.

Also given the GXP has more torque, it was designed to have a wider tire up front, going smaller would be silly. Wider would be wiser as it would give you more traction, unless you want to be able to burn them off faster, then do as you please.

Again, I'd stick with stock sizes or push for the 275/40 for the fronts and a 245/45 on the back.
Also, again... your call. Price them and go from there.

Traction is based on weight (actual weight, not the misconception that weight is mass) and coefficient of friction which is based on tread compound and temperature.

I know that 2cm of width isn't really going to make THAT big of a difference, but wider tires based on the same "tread compound and temperature" and on the same weight, will still net you more traction than skinnier tires. If that was not the case then every NHRA drag racer would be running skinny front tires as well as skinny Slicks on the back.

tire width is about managing heat.

You need enough tire to get it to the optimal temperature for traction. Too hot isn't good, neither is too cold.

Also note they're very tall tires? Not short and wide.

Tire gets wider, contact patch changes shape, but the area remains the same.

wider tires require wider wheels. when you put a huge fatty buldging tire on a smaller width wheel the contact patch is reduced because of the way the tire has to deform to fit the wheel.

The same rules apply with skinny tires on a 8" wide rim.

Thus why I said stay stock or go wider, but I wouldn't want to rotate a staggered set of wheels on a GP anyways. I would want to leave the 8"s on front and the 7"s on back, but that's just me.

both cheap garbage i mean honestly if walmart sells nexen its a joke and both are summer only

I'm running the Nankangs (I will replace them with some good rubber later) but so far I have no complaints about them even though it's only been like 2 weeks since I had them mounted. For a normal driving tire they're fine and wet traction is fine. I don't need dumb winter tires like you northerners lol

lol.....and most tires are good when they are new wait til they have some decent mileage on them

I heard the bad things about them after I bought them of course lol. New tires by the end of the year hopefully.

i do 275/40/18 on 9'' rim, all is well = untill lowered, but !! my offset is terrible so dont go 35 offsett= bad idea lol ^^ seems like best idea

I would stay with the factory tires sizes. Plus you cant rotate the tires because without modifing the back wheel opening the tires will rub on the inside. I like the Hankook Ventus that I had on my GXP.

You probably need to try them before you make that point. Im running Nankangs NsII currently and have no complaints. Around 10k miles on them so far. I Ran Hankook Ventus before those and they're comparable. Big difference saving $300 something I saved going this time around w/ Nankangs. I will upgrade down the road and probably go back to Hankooks but at the time Nankangs were the best bet.

^^ wait, youre saying cheap tires are worse than expensive ones? no way.

srsly, any summer tire will be day and night difference vs all seasons no matter what.

lol leave it to ODI to bring the obvious out........and thats not always the case you will pay more for a michelin pilot as but when i tested them the DWS was better and most deff summer tires dont handle heavy water well and no snow
