New accelerator pedal reset procedure on '08. Need the procedure or steps.

Still working on my grandkids '08, which was showing reduced power screen. I put a new pedal in and it was idling badly afterwards, so I stuck the old one back in and the idle returned to normal. While I was looking up some info for other work on the car, I found a video on accelerator pedal/sensor resetting. The guy went through the reset feature on his truck (key to accessories, not turned on, then press the pedal slowly to the floor and hold for 15 seconds, then slowly let off and turn the key off, then start the vehicle. But he mentioned that every vehicle has it's own procedure, so look it up in the manual. I don't have a manual, so can somebody tell me what the steps are for this car? I'd like to put the new one back in and see if it will help the limp mode problem if I calibrate it correctly. Thanks for any help on this. Lee

Thanks, tomsteve. I put the new pedal back in thinking that it must be the 'reduced power' problem hoping to reset it correctly and get rid of that code. I'm getting 3 or 4 codes on my scanner and they all point to the accelerator pedal. This really has me scratching my head. I've got to get this fixed. It's the transportation for two of my grandkids for getting to high school.

Thanks, I'll check that. But it's not going to run right until I get it reset. The old one acts idles and acts fine when I give it some gas.

allright, thinkin through a bit after some morning caffeine and awake, showing reduced power screen- with original pedal was there an issue with acceleration?
thinkin that I recall a dirty MAF sensor can cause acceleration and misfire issues as can a dirty throttle body. I do know mine acted like a new car after pulling off and cleaning the throttle body and cleaning MAF sensor.

Forgot to answer before but, yes, one of the codes said something about voltage, but I can't remember if it said it was low voltage. I'm heading back over to the car (at the high school parking lot still) in a little while so I'll recheck that. I pulled the MAF housing off and attempted to spray it but the can of MAF cleaner I had was so low it just dribbled out. I've got a new can and am going to re-clean it this afternoon, too. I also installed a new MAP sensor, pcv valve that was pretty dirty, and a new pcv hose after the dry rotted boot cracked. And I'm also putting on new rear brake pads this afternoon that just got here today. And try to re-calibrate the new accelerator pedal. If it doesn't straighten out, I'm returning it and putting the old one back in. I was hoping that if I get that pedal calibrated that it would not only clear the accelerator pedal codes but maybe fix the reduced power problem. The grandkids say it was sporadically running bad before they got stuck in the parking lot. Regardless of what happens, unless everything is cleared up by this weekend, I'm having AAA haul it to the transmission rebuilder and pay to have the tranny rebuilt.
