i have the stock torque star rims and im thinking of getting new tires, i have a few questions:

i was considering either a 235/55R16 or a 235/50R16 tire which one do you guys think is better?

what are some good tires for both the summer and the winter (i live in michigan and dont want 2 sets of tires)

what speed rating should i get at minium i need H but should i shell out the extra money for V i want to push my car past 140mph but im not gonna cruise at those speeds

Get the stock size 225/60/16

Or get 245/50/16.

Your car wont go faster than 126 per the speed limiter and the transmisson will hate you if you go that fast and hit 4th gear.

i gotta get 235's though i want a wider tire for the grip, 60 is WAY to much side wall and i guess id just go with H rating

i thought about running into that problem, you really think it would look dumb? i think 60 looks dumb right now

I had 245/50 16's for awhile. I thought they looked pretty damn good! They handled good too! As for snow though.... They sucked in it!

Kumho Escta AST. Why they were bad... They got no damn traction. I dunno kid. Why is the sky blue ?

They just sucked...End of Story. I have General Altimax's now. They grip way better but don't handle as nicely. Granted I went back to the stock 16" rim sized tire.

well i meant if the tires sucked because of the brand like all firestones are garbage or if they sucked because of the size i.e. wider tire equals worse traction in snow i was hoping i could get away with 245 as 225 are pretty good int he snow

based on the roll of the tires once you start going bigger you should stick with the stock size. you've gotta remember that the stock wheels are only 6.5" wide and much wider with the tires and you have to overcome the 'roll' the tires need to experience before they actually get traction.

big tires are for straight line traction. correctly sized tires, or slightly stretched tires, are for turning corners.

Yea, and maybe the sway bar will save him when he goes off the road with those big tires. Just razzin

alright guys i know its not built right yet i plan to do: headers open cone filter 3.6" pulley real soon here but anyways the factory rating for this car is H i just want to be on the safe side now im asking you all is 245 too big for the stock rim?
