Need some help.....

So here's the problem I've been dealing with for some time, car won't start on its own, I actually have to give it gas to get it started, and it won't stay running either, after letting off the throttle it just bobbles and dies. So I read alot on these forum and others and convinced myself that it had to be the fuel pump. Bought a Fuel Pressure gauge and tested my pressure at the fuel rail, and guess what it was only getting 38psi when I would turn on the ignition, and then would rapidly die down to 0psi.

So I just got done replacing the fuel pump, wasn't too bad to do, just hard on an old fat guy. And guess what, I get adequate pressure now, but still it's doing the same thing! So I'm pretty sure if I remember correctly that when this happened before I replaced that Fuel Pump Resistor/Ballast Resistor and it fixed my problems....So I was curious and tested the resistance on the FPR and I get .7 ohms of resistance, does anyone know what it's actually supposed to be??

And I'm kinda of at the end of my rope here, if it's not the FPR, then where should I go next MAF sensor? Crank, camshaft sensor? any help would be greatly appreciated!

The pressure regulator is the reason its bleed all its pressure.

I bet if you disconnect the rubber vacuum line going to it, some fuel will come out or it will be all wet.

After replacing the Pump today tho it's doesn't bleed back down.... I will go check it tho. Thanks for quick response!

Yeah Fivefinger that's right....new Fuel Pump it kicks up to 45psi, and stays there now, it doesn't bleed off anymore, but still the same issue, you can just sit there and crank it all day and it won't start until you give it gas, then it will fire right up, but won't hold an idle, if you take your foot off the pedal it just dies...

The "gas" pedal an a FI car does not really give it "gas", it gives it "air". Not like the old carburetors that actually gave the engine "gas" when the pedal was depressed.

Man this has been going on for about 2 months now....I'm sooo frustrated with it, I just want it to run again, and I keep thinking it's going to be something super simple and super cheap, but I have ran out of ideas..

I have HPTuners software on my laptop, I can scan and post the data on here if that will help anyone help me out...

So got home from work, took the throttle body off the car, and took off the IAC, and when I did this is what I found
WP_0000172.jpg
the o-ring that was around the base of the IAC was smashed, and it wasn't seated correctly, and I guess there another o-ring came from somewhere else and my have been jamming the actual movement of the valve...Thoughts?? Anyway to test these?

Anywayz, Thought I would check back, replaced the IAC and cleaned my MAF with MAF cleaner and also the throttle body, and guess what, she fires right up first thing now, silly how it was that one part, although it does seem that my fuel pump was on the way out down 8psi from what it should have been, so I don't feel like I wasted any of my time or money, especially since who knows when it would have failed....Thanks for everyone's help!

I was going to say a stuck open injector, since that would cause all those symptoms and would need more throttle (more air) to be able to make up for the fuel dump... But it looks like you found the problem and that wasn't it.
