Need some advice - car totalled

Hey all, I have (had) a 2002 GTP. I was recently in an accident and the car was totalled. Damages are at 5500, car is valued at 8000. So I can either get $8k cash or $8k - salvage value of the car and the wrecked car. Don't know the salvage value yet. Kinda bummed, really loved this car, only had 47,000 miles on it. Anyone have any advice on what I should do? Take the money or try to fix the car?

sounds like someone dont know how to drive. Drivin on oil slicked roads from black top all the time, even directly behind the oil truck, never slipped once.

You are from Jersey.. I've seen my share of your drivers skills ... I'll cut you a break.

Thing is.. do you want to try to fix it or make more by parting it out? Most would just get the moola and run.

It's a Grand Prix ill take the $8k and run chances are you wouldn't have gotten $8k selling it. Plus they're a dime a dozen.

If it were me, I'd take the 8k and put a down payment on a GTO...

but if you really liked the car, depending on the salvage value of the car and what you will have left over, you could get a used bumper, fender, stuff you need, order in a nice F1/SD/GTX hood, the SD lip, polished grills of your choice, custom headlights, etc... and have a whole new look and the car still.

your choice.

You could take the money, but you aren't gonna find a 47k GTP, those are not a dime a dozen... That said, an item's VALUE is only what someone is willing to pay for it. Same goes for the car... YOU must make the value based decision on whether to keep it, fix it, or let it go...

Personally, I would fix it as TOTALLED to me means that the body, engine and drivetrain are shot and irreparable! I've fixed all my cars that have had accidents, but that's just me.

Good Luck no matter your decision!
:)
