NA vs SC PCM



Looks like I'll be able to use my dealership connection to do a factory burn on my slave (N/A) pcm to match my original/master (S/C) pcm.

Now I just need to get a tuner....

some say it does. i was using win 7 on a laptop i was borrowing from a friend, but it kept crashing while reading and writing the pcm. so i stopped using it. i blame the laptop tho. older acer brand.

my desk top has its xp HD and the new HD with win7 on it, so i switch to the xp OS and was using the desk top with my off board set up for a while.

i just picked up a used gateway lappy running vista for 25 bucks. and it works fine with dhp.

if you search CL theres Xp laptops for sale for like 50 bucks or so. how this one went from 50 to 25, guy said it was xp. got there it was vista. hes like screw it 25 and its yours. deal!!! it came with Xp and was up graded to vista so if it came to it i was gonna reload xp to it. but vista is fine so far.

all but the battery life as expected, its needs a new one.


and the best part of all. when i registered the dhp to this new laptop, being ive done it a few times already, it went though on the very first shot.
 


I keep going back and forth between the two. I think what will end up happening is, when I'm ready to buy something, if there's a used dhp for a decent price, I will go with dhp. If no one has one for sale, I will go with hpt.
 
For almost every program, if you can do it with XP 32-bit, you can do it with Vista/Win7/Win8 32-bit. Sometimes there are driver issues when you swap over to 64-bit with older software/hardware.

Any OS that is full of malware will have issues, it's not the fault of the OS.
 
Agreed. When I run into problems they're usually driver related. I'm 64 bit.

Haha! I just realized that applies to my car too!
 
the lap top i was using was a 32 bit xp unit, that was freshly up graded to win 7. so it was clean. i really think it didnt like win 7 to much, maybe short of ram.
 


I'm not really a computer guy. For me it's just a tool to get a job done, but from what I understand, W7 is kind of a RAM hog.

Does your "new" computer have an SD card slot? I guess with W7, if you leave an SD card with some space on it in the computer, it will use it for added RAM. Assuming you don't already have an SSD.
 
new one runs dandy on vista for DHP. read and wrote via the off board quite a few times to make sure it was ok.

i need to order a new battery for car use tho. the one its got only lasts like 15 minutes.

win 7 needs a min of 1 gig of ram to run.

the borrowed laptop has only one gig, so that could be it. it works just fine other wise. only craps out using DHP. it worked 1/2 the time. so a crap shoot if you will, why i got a new used lappy. it crashed writing and bricked my pcm on me.....bad day for sure.
