My other Supercharged 3.8 liter V6

thunder71173

SLP, GTP or call it MUT!
I know alot of you wont like it because its a Ford but It has alot of things that we all wish our Grand Prix did. Its a 1989 Thunderbird Super Coupe 5 speed, 3:27 gears, Headers, CAI, Magnaflow exhaust and A Cervini mach1 hood. Its decently quick and the rubber hits the road through a 5 speed tranny to a fully independant suspension with a 3.27 Rear end. After some paint, 13" cobra brakes and spindles, ht3s 18" wheels, 1.5" drop with new tokico struts and shocks and some gtp gen 3 rotors and what they call a 10% m90 pulley this thing will be alot of fun to drive when Im not driving my GP!

Oh yeah I also forgot to mention the factory inner cooler which is pretty awsome too. I will try to find an ander hood pic

here is one before the cai and a few other things but this is all ive got right now

Those are a lot of fun. My uncle had a 88 turbo coupe that was pretty fun. I remember being about 11 or 12 and him taking me out and hauling balls and us almost hitting an amish buggy lol. Then a few months later he did hit an amish buggy and totaled it out but when that happened it was smoking like a freight train anyway lol.

I like the SC Coupes...especially this one...clean...simple...with Cobra wheels.

I do however like your hood better and I'm sure it'll look great after everything is in place. As for the Intercooler...GM failed there...they had it in the concept 300GPX in 1996...but since it was just about as fast as the C4 Corvette...they suck that dinner plate sized pulley on it and removed the IC...seen here...

Which is why I wish I had a Ford something sometimes...Cobra...Supercoupe...all came intercooled from the factory. Stupid GM didn't figure it out until 2005.

I paid 1500 for this one the other one I had a couple years ago was much faster. The tbird sc and the gtp are pretty equal cars in a straight line with similar mods for the exception that the sc is a rear wheel drive 5 speed car with a pretty good tranny. The inner cooler is a pretty cool stock feature to have and can be easily plummed for a bigger inner cooler radiator. They both have good and bad things about them I am just glad I get the pleasure to experiance both! I am looking for a good set of gtp rotors for the m90 on this care if anyone has one. I have already bought the silver paint clear and syuff to paint it. I am going to worry about the exterior of this car first because it runs really good stock and has around 315 tq as it is so it really fun to drive. I will add updates as I make progress with it. This summer I plan to take the gp and it to the strip to see what kind of 1/8 mile times they both put down. I am putting my l67 in my gt this weekend then it is going to the body shop for the sd hood and slp gen 1 wing. Again if anyone has an extra gen3 m90 with good rotors let me know.

5 speed cars are a little quicker than the auto's but like blue said it depends on the driver. There are alot of 10 11 and 12 second sc cars not many gtps lay down those kind of #s. Not saying they dont because they do its just alot easier to get this platform to that kind of performance level.

The lower the power output...this is true...but side by side the faster you get there is less room for error and 99% of the time auto cars go faster.

yeah its on fords specs

Power Plant:
The Super Coupe's comes equipped with a 3.8 liter V-6 powerplant that is force-fed with an Eaton Corporation supercharger. The 8.2 to 1 compression ratio, combined with six computer controlled sequentially fuel injectors, completes the well rounded underhood package. While running at a maximum 15,600 rpm's, the supercharger provides 12 psi of boost and as a resultant it develops 210 bhp at 4000 engine rpm's. The engine develops 315 lb-ft of torque at 2600 rpm. The supercharged V-6 delivers ample power without much noise but an underdrive kit and a performance chip are available to boost the horsepower rating to 255 bhp.
89-93 Engine Specifications:
Type: Supercharged OHV V-6
Bore x stroke, mm: 96.8 x 86.0
Displacement, cc: 3802
Displacement, ci: 232
Compression ratio: 8.2:1
Bhp@RPM, SAE net: 210@4000
Torque, lb-ft@RPM: 315@2600
Fuel delivery: Multi-Port Electronic fuel-injection
Fuel requirement: unleaded, 92+ octane
Exhaust-emission control equipment: 3-way catalytic converter,
exhaust-gas re-circulation, air injection

Transmission:
The 4-speed automatic transmission features a 0.67:1 overdrive ratio and an electromechanical lockup to eliminate torque-converter slippage on the supercharged models.

Braking System:
The Thunderbird SC braking system features 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS. The Thunderbird SC can stop in 140 ft from 60 mph. From a speed of 80 mph, it takes the SC 247 ft. to come to a safe stop.

Suspension System:
Up front, the T-Bird rides on a short and long-arm system rather than a more conventional MacPherson-strut arrangement. This system features variable-rate coil springs, a 1.2 in. diameter anti-sway bar and electronically controlled nitrogen-pressurized gas shocks.
The rear suspension is even less conventional for a rear wheel drive domestic sedan. It's fully independent with a large lower H-arm on which the variable-rate coil spring rides and there is a smaller U channel upper arm. These arms are tied together by a cast aluminum knuckle. In addition, there is a 1.1 inch diameter anti-roll bar and gas-pressurized shocks with electronically controlled damping. The car's gripping power comes from the big P225/60R-16 Goodyear Eagle GT-II's mounted on 7 inch wide light alloy wheels.

The SC is equipped with an electronic suspension control. You can definitely feel a difference in the ride when you switch from the soft and sport (Firm) setting. The ride control system is made by Tokico. A computer monitors vehicle speed, brake-line pressure, steering angle and engine-computer acceleration signals to determine the shock valving. There are two switch settings. These settings are: Auto and Firm. The automatic setting selects soft shock valving for a smooth, comfortable ride. When driving conditions require a firm ride, it automatically overrides the soft valving. The firm position is simply an override that selects the firm setting in all driving modes.
