My official LeMons car thread questions and answer??

Finally got my gauges and mounts. Installing a boost, trans temp, and oil pressure gauge, along with 3 roll bar mounts and red led back lighting.

Already received the oil pressure gauge last week . Hope to have it all wired in and plumbed by Thursday

Started some last minute work for better cooling, extended the air dam down to 1/8" from the ground, still have to rivet it down and installed an All-Fit 3" front lip.

Good progress yesterday and today, worked on 2 cars, first my buddy's 78 Datsun B210, officially known as the Ratsun. Helped mount up his racing seat and space it so it leans back more.

Then back to final details on my car, got the 3 gauges mounted and attached to the roll bar and wired up, including having the back lighting tapped into the dimmer setting.

Why no e85
E85 is harder to come by down here in Texas, seems more prevalent up in the Northern states. plus you use more E85 call it 15-20% and this being an endurance race would mean more frequent pit stops. If it was more available here then I think I would.

Got the car up and started this weekend, sounds so good but a few issues popped up. Setting P0121 low voltage for throttle position sensor it's showing .51V at idle 0% throttle and 4.14V at 100% throttle, P0748 for transmission pressure control solenoid, and a small fuel leak at the fuel pressure return hose at the quick connect fitting and lastly have a small seep from the trans cooler line at the radiators upper fitting, think I need to replace the O-rings inside the fitting. Other then that I need to check fluid levels and start putting miles on the car.

Parts warrantied the throttle position sensor at work and now it's reading as it should .51 volts at idle and 4.51volts at 100% wide open. Fixed the intake air temp problem, had a bent pin in the ZZP adapter harness from the LQ4 maf so ordered a new adapter harness and all is good now. Saturday car goes back into the shop to replace the transmission pressure control solenoid that's setting P0748, when I get inside I'll be replacing the internal wiring harness also, realign the car after and then I load it back onto the trailer to take it to a friends house to have a passanger side door bar added to meet new rule classifications for 2015.
Waiting to get some o-rings for the factory fuel lines, we had noticed a small drip coming from the return fitting. Next race is 2 weeks away so hope there are no further problems that we can't fix at the track.

Here is some info for those that would like to come out and check it out that are close enough.

Been driving the car for the last week and kept getting a P0748 pressure control solenoid code, replaced the solenoid and internal wiring harness with no change. Inspected wiring from PCM all the way down to the solenoid and had a reading of 4.6 ohm's, deternined the code was being set by a bad PCM so had Intense Racing send another and after plugging it in, all is good.
Now I'm down to one last code P0171 system lean at idle but cant find any vacuum leaks. Tried spraying carb cleaner around but no changes at all stft+20 and ltft+16 I know this sounds like a vacuum leak but kinda hard to believe since all hoses and fittings are new, hope it's just a tune issue, since while driving the lock in at 0. Let me know what you guy's think, I hope it may just be due to the NIC cam??
Loading up the car Wednesday and headed out Thursday afternoon, tech inspection is Friday and race is Sat & Sun. Wish us all luck and will post up race pics next week

Have you tried using an unlit propane torch with a piece of hose and moving it around while watching your trims?

Jeff

Hooked up a smoke machine at work today and no leaks from any vacuum lines or gaskets/sealing surfaces. Stuck it into the exhaust pipe only to find a leak from the rear plog mating flange to the old down pipe, wont have time to fix it before the race but will replace it with a new down pipe from ZZP w/cat. Thinking of doing a new resenator and new piping and just redo it all

Too bad you run the cat on there if i was closer to Dallas I'd knock the codes out for you but I'm in Killen about 3hrs away

Booba yes the crossover is wrapped so no go on that. 91parkave, appreciate the thought. I realized when I installed the rear plog the downpipe gasket has a fire ring in it, so went to AutoZone and got a regular 3" collector gasket that is metal impregnated and will be swapping it out at the track on Friday. Well off and running tomorrow morning, may have limited internet access so updates and picture will come Monday

Are you worried about the cat for race purposes? That's alot of heat it'll be under in race conditions
I could care less about the cat, it's a high flow unit but want to get a whole new downpipe with another cat and redo the rest of the exhaust down stream, would love to try NASCAR oval pipe after the cat and have a nice clean side exit, this will be a future update
