• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

My new car!

Damn, awful news about the GTP. I secretly followed your build, and the intake gasket thread on GPONA and I was in love with your car. White GTP Coupes are the best looking 97-03.

As for the balt, the only one I would get would be a blue SS, so you made a good choice. Good Luck with it.

Yeah, I was really sad to let it go but the guy I sold it to is taking good care of it.

Thanks, I'll be posting updates on the slobalt as I make progress.

I like the Saturn ION Redline more.

Don't the S/C LSJ's dyno at 210-220whp stock, they were underrated I believe.

you should see more than 250whp I think with those mods.

Yeah, they seem to be putting down 215+ at the wheels stock from what I've seen. Anywhere in the 250-275 WHP range and I'm happy.

I don't think the redline looks as good, but they're lighter and the body panels won't rust out, so they definitely have advantages.

Sorry guys forgot to update this thread. I'm really liking the SS so far. Haven't had time to do too much with it yet but I did get the header/dp and magnaflow catback on and I just got done tinting the tails. Even on the stock tune the header/catback made a huge difference. Unfortunately the I/C pump doesn't work (which I guess is a very common problem?) so the car isn't even running as well as it could be.

Here's a really crappy picture of the tinted tails. It's been raining all week so I haven't washed the car.

Here's some pictures of the exhaust. You can see the GM hasn't gotten any better at designing a manifold that doesn't suck :th_winking:

Legit. Cant wait till my friend gets his. About how much did the whole exhaust cost you? (if you dont mind me asking)

And how did you find out that your I/C pump isnt working?

The whole exhaust cost me $800, but it was used. That's not bad thogh considering that the vibrant header/dp is about ~$600 new and the magnaflow catback is ~$750 new.

I was thinking to myself one day that I should be able to hear the i/c pump running and I couldn't. I searched about i/c pumps not working on the cobalt forum and many people have had their pumps go out in about 2 years. The easiest way to tell though is to just take the cap off the i/c filler "t" fitting and watch the coolant inside. If it's flowing, the pump works, if it's not, it doesn't.

Also, tell your buddy to make sure the reverse lights come on when the car is in reverse, the switch to turns on the lights goes bad all the time (mine only work 1 out of every 50 times I shift into reverse). Also tell him to make sure the cruise control works. Mine didn't when I got the car and many people have had this problem as well. Some people (including me) have been able to fix it by just disconnecting the battery for a while to reset everything but some people have had to replace expensive parts.

Alright ill let him know. I kinda heard theres a bunch of little problems with the cobalts, but nothing huge. every car has its problems.

I've got a buddy with an sc version.

Harrop TVS blower...internals, meth, injectors and a tune made 357 whp.

Trapped like 112 before he ditched the blower for a turbo/e85 setup. Traction becomes an issue at that point.

It's all little stupid stuff that breaks, like the ic pump or the sunroof switch bezel falling.

Oh yea and the first and only time he let me drive it, the leather cover (idk what you call it) around the shift nob came off.

never had that issue but the chrome plating on the stock shift knob is all stripped off and the silver paint on the window switch panels is chipped off on both sides. Stupid stuff.
