My '05 V - Summer mode engaged

Re: My '05 V - Headers in. More parts exist. Its slow

You should get rockstar's.

Because those are six lug.

Re: My '05 V - Headers in. More parts exist. Its slow

i can't say i'm a big tuning guru, but when i finished the header install it felt like i gained a little power and i was fairly pleased.

after getting it tuned last night: holy ****. this thing is a monster. i know it was 45 degrees while we were tuning and 35 degrees this morning on the way to work, but this thing pulls like a freight train. i am at ~90% injector duty cycle with everything as is.

i also didn't realize it would affect the overall drivability of the car so much, either. it just feels smoother over all, including the idle which is super steady now. power delivery is super linear and above 4k RPM it just keeps on pulling.

$350 well spent (including the 2 credits for hptuners)? i think so.

also, headlights dropped off with ray to get 'the treatment'. i left the final design up to him...

Ray is a winner.

90% IDC??

I doubt I even break 80-85 with running 12.5ish AFR. I just have a catless y-pipe as stock manifolds do the job.

Maybe he's running you slightly richer or the 5.7's injectors are a different size.

Glad you got it tuned. That's a big thing I noticed with the G8, when he actually tuned it.. holy hell.

Re: My '05 V - Headers in. More parts exist. Its slow

kept them simple, but made them match what i was doing with the rest of the car. i like them a lot.

Re: My '05 V - Headers in. More parts exist. Its slow

We sqeaked 12.8~ AFR out of mine with 29*, not only did I notice the same driveability conditions you mentioned, but it does pull MUCH better past 60~ compared to when it felt like it would just die around the same speed. We were only about 75-80% maxed though...

Looks good, lacking pics :)

those headlights look sweet. Did he put clear lenses or modify anything?

the guy tuning my car said he doesn't like to push the AFR too far lean for the 3-5whp gain that it gives you. i am totally cool with a 85% effort tune on my car because i know i can take it out in any weather, wail on it, and it'll survive just fine.

no modifications besides painting the inner housing. they're basically still stock, just cleaned up and looking how they should have from the factory. they'll do a good job of tying the front end of my car together and i'm excited to get them on (as well as make a little bit of money on selling the ones on the car now).

i don't know when i'll put them on, though. we'll see.

Re: My '05 V - Headers in. More parts exist. Its slow

i can do my own 5 lug swap, haha.

i will literally NEVER buy a black car. ever.

Re: My '05 V - Headers in. More parts exist. Its slow

still dreaming over here, but i think i have it figured out...

avant garde m550 20x9/10.5 +35/38 in dolphin gray if possible (might only be able to get silver?). gonna run 245/35R20 front, 275/30R20 rear.

reference picture (clearly not a V or the tire size i'd have):

and then in winter i'll grab some vette or V knockoff wheels to run the 225/50R18 winter tires i already have. one of these:

http://www.oewheelsllc.com/Wheels_3...dillac-CTS-V-Wheel-Chrome-18x8_2#.VFjpGRZVUZE

the vette wheels are 18x8.5 +46mm so 4mm off from being exactly the same size as stock, the V knockoffs are 18x8 +40mm so they'll be smaller, but would still work just fine. i don't think i can go wrong with any of those choices in the end.

the good thing about those wheels is that i should be able to get them basically 'free' from selling my stock wheels. people seem to like having extras or another set to have for track days.
