My '05 V - Summer mode engaged

Re: My '05 V

no, i don't really feel like the car being super recognizable all the time. i'll just have a regular random plate.

Thanks for your inquiry and patience waiting on a response here. We had a customer bring an opened CTS w/ OEM HIDs into our shop and I had a good look inside. We ended up going with the RX350 Bi-Xenon projectors, which required him to make some metal brackets to hold them in place of the stock projector. I also think he lost the AFS (turning) function of the stock HIDs when he did that swap.

One thing to keep in mind here is the new projector uses D2S bulbs, so you would need to plan on also purchasing bulb/ballasts as part of this.

The RX350 projectors can be seen on this page: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/components/projectors/bi-xenon-lexus-rx350-sti-r.html.

Let us know what you think of these or if you have any other questions.

Did you by chance get to measure the lens diameter and focus height of the stock projector?

I was thinking my best plan of attack would be to just replace the lens. I feel as though that'd be a good compromise between and upgrade and not spending a whole lot on doing it. It'd also retain all of the stock functions of the headlight.

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately there is not a lens swap for the CTS that we're aware of.

What's stopping me from using a different lens of the same diameter so long as I get the focus height as close as possible to the stock lens (using spacers as necessary)?

That's actually the issue--none of our clear lenses are close enough to size and shape of the stock lens for it to be a swap there.

god dammit.

Re: My '05 V

i would rather not. i'm on the search for another headlight housing right now. preferably a junky one that i can just steal the projector from.

Re: My '05 V

Now..if you only knew someone sitting on a set of RX330 or RX350 projectors that he had gotten to retro his headlights when a buddy handed him a full set of headlights already done.

If only.....

Re: My '05 V

i don't want to do a retrofit...

also, i'm having a hard time convincing myself not to get coilovers.

Re: My '05 V

the issue is that the options are either ksport or d2....both of which are cheap, taiwan coilovers (~$1200).

or i pay up and but KW V3 for like $3000. i think belltech makes a relabel of the KW V3 for about $2200, though. and the KW style (as well as ground control setups) don't use a full rear coilover and the spring/strut are still separate. it's not my first choice of how i'd want to do it.

Re: My '05 V

Why not contact RideTech and see if they could custom fab a bag system for you? You get to dump it when you want, but still have the performance of a non-air suspension system? I looked at their site and they do not offer anything for the cts that I could find. Your car could be the prototype.........

Re: My '05 V

Go big or go home. Since they don't offer it for the V, you might be able to see if they could design it on your car and get it for free. You would lose you car for a while during the design process though.
