Motor oil for 3800?

Lol. I know a lot of toyotas that you never have to change the oil. It loses it so fast, it's self changing. Just add a quart weekly. ;)

haha, i'm sure they do. My step-sister has a tercel.

I've seen pictures of the design in person. No need to change the oil filter either as its a toilet paper roll....

He's in Ecuador now, but maybe I can obtain some of the photos and post them up, although I don't know if I want to start something that can get me in trouble the mob... i mean... :th_flamingdevil:oil companies....:th_gun-rifle:

The guy who owns it was the Grandfather of my roommate about 3-4 years ago. He bought an oil system from this family in California who made them. I don't remember what the system was made of, but you NEVER had to change the oil!!! Just had to add more when needed.

One thing I do remember about the pictures I saw of the system was it was based around a.............. toilet paper roll......... pretty inovative

Toyota actually offered to buy the truck from him (apparently a hefty sum) but he refused to sell it. He loves it! Also I know the family and they are incredibly wealthy. My roommates Uncle took over the country through a Militia. Not sure if he's still the leader of Ecuador, but he was a heart surgeon before.

Long story on the California family. They were going to patent the idea but the oil companies put them out of business real quick. :th_lipssealed2:

keep in mind it was over 1,000,000 miles 3 years ago. I don't remember exactly what it was but i think it was getting to the 1,150,000 mark... last I heard which was about 5 months ago the Truck is still running like a champ. I'm sure it's it well over the 1,200,000 mark by now.

Another thing I don't think people know too much about is Central/South America is a great place to purchase old classic cars, Camaros especially, because they don't get many new cars down there. The old models are in almost perfect running condition because it's all they have.

My former roommates father and one of his friends bought an old, authentic mind you, Shelby Cobra. Built it up in Ecuador, imported it to the US, for FREE!!! (Diplomats) raced it a few times, then sold it...

Good market for anyone that is interested and has connections down there.
 
Valvoline 10 w 30 High milage
I use Valvoline 10w-30 Synthetic High Mileage. I also have oil analysis's done after each change for each of our cars. We get it done for free from my dads work and it is really nice to know of something going wrong before it actually happens.

IMO, that high mileage oil is crap. You pay more and it doesn't do anything for ya. Save yourself the cash, and just run regular oil. I do and I don't have any problems. Just a marketing ploy that many people fall for who don't know any better.

Again, just my opinion.

I got a deal on it though. It was 24.99 W/ a fram oil filter. Fram is crap I know but, it was at leaste the better end of fram. I think it was called tough guard or something.

look at it this way, some cheap-o's actually think a new oil filter is an option and dont change it...

at walmart you can get the Castrol Synte c for about 20 buck I do not see the problem with this. I do not think that that is a lot of money it is about the same as buying normal oil from there because it will last twice as long. My car seems to run a bit smoother too
 


The first number is just the rating of the oil's low temp viscosity. If you live in a colder area, you should run oil that has a lower first number i.e. 0 or 5. 5 and 10 usually are interchangeable in an average climate. But when you live up north and see long periods of cold you should run 5 or 0.
 
I have always used amsoil in my dirt bike and sled and it works great. My last oil change for my car i put in Q advanced this time I am going royal purple and a K&N filter. I was going to go amsoil, but i forgot to delete the one quart of royal purple in my cart from zzp when i ordered my cia so i am going to run that. I am also going with 5w-30 for the winter cause here in Iowa it gets down to -15 for extended periods of time.
