• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I should probably go hang out on the Cobalt forums and leave you guys alone huh?

:th_biggrin2:

I'm going to let the other thread die, so let's carry on about my piece in this thread..

I snapped some pics of the slobalt the other day after giving it a bath and reinstalling the front bowtie/shift knob. This is probably going to be one of the last times the car looks nice this year, soon the snow will be falling and the paint will get all swirled up. Anyhow, here's a bunch of new pictures. The background isn't too scenic but the car looks nice. There's some pictures that are almost the same angles except with different lighting, which shows the way the paint changes color some.

The shift knob used to have a chrome top, problem is the chrome was mostly chipped off and the rest was scratched badly. It looked like crap. This isn't much better, but it's a little improvement.

I also painted the front bowtie matte black, soon the wheels will be done in matte black as well. Once I have a job again I'm also going to get the windows tinted and get black projector headlights instead of the chrome ones.

and here's some general pictures of the car.

Let me know what you think. It's coming along nicely IMO. I'm pretty sure I'm just going to keep this car though the rest of college and save my money for a down payment on a new STI when I graduate, so I might as well make the slobalt more "mine" for now.

Looks good bro. :)

Clean. Only thing I would do is repaint the shift knob, looks kind of rushed.

Thanks. I think I had the right idea with the shift knob but it just didn't work out. I had to superglue the actual painted part back on so I don't think it's coming off again. It's just a temporary fix though. Better than chipped chrome and worse than the hurst sts I'll be getting when I have the money.

so I take it your gonna keep it?

It looks good, I like that blue.

I'm going to keep it for now. I think I'm going to mod it enough to hit low 13's/high 12's (easily done with about $700-1000) and drive it throughout the rest of college. Save my money to get a new STI when I'm out. That could always change, especially if someone wanted to trade a nice STi straight up for the car and the bike, but for now I'm keeping it.

i can honestly say that the cobalt is the best fwd of its time and prolly one of the best ever.

It has a lot of potential but there's a lot of flaws in the car too. The interior is garbage, a lot of it is really cheaply made. Fit and finish is worse than my 99 GTP by far and the GTP wasn't all that nice inside in it's own right.

Best color GM has ever made. Looks great man. Sucks you have a gravel driveway...

The color is one of the reasons I even went to look at this car in the first place. I like blue:

It's a great color though. depending on the lighting it can look really different
