Mod Questions

will i have a 98 Grand Prix GTP with 115,000 on it and i was thinking about modding it so the questions is what would be the first mod i should do?

First mod should be reading that thread over and over.

Second thing should be figuring out what direction you want to go with. (IE, looks, handling, power, etc)

Third, make sure all the maintenance is up to date. Last thing you want to do is spend $$$ on fun stuff, just to have something fail that should have been addressed before hand.

will i want my grand prix to go a little faster then it is now its a daily driver plus i really dont like stock to much and my car is bone stock all the way around just got it 3 mouths ago

Well, new fluids, filters, plugs, wires, and any worn out suspension stuff would be the first thing to address.

After that, a set of headers and an intake will liven the car up a little bit.

If you are looking to get cheap performance with easy installs you could do a 3"dp, modded 1.9 rockers and they you could probably run a 3.4ish

i put new plugs, wires in, k&n drop in filter was in it when i got it just cleaned it, change the oil, replace one of the rear struts, the only thing i haven't did yet was change the fuel filter and trans oil and filter. any thing else i'm missing before i get to the fun stuff

hey one thing i notice is that my GTP does not have a resonator is that good or dad? and the gas mileage suck to 14.5 or 15.2 mpg is that normal?

No resonator means someone has obviously removed it. Possible it rusted out. Not really a good/bad thing, more so for quieting the car down some and reducing drone/rasp. And is that 14.5-15.2 in city driving, mixed, or interstate?

That's a little low, depends on how long you're sitting and how hard you are on the gas. I get between 16-21 city, but I dont have many lights, and am fairly light on the throttle.

I quote
" Putting your GTP into "Performance Shift" mode raises the RPM level at which the transmission shifts into the next highest gear, and may allow your RPMs to go a bit higher than in normal mode. Use it for getting up to speed more quickly, passing (except when in 4th gear; it won't help here), racing, etc. According to those more sensitive to the shift characteristics, "Performance Shift" mode feels quite a bit more firm and quick during shifts than normal mode."
