Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Misfire and possible chipped piston?

It runs great it only sputters when I get on it really hard that's why I kno it's not blown and its only when I go over 5psi

4-5psi is not running it hard. Your a moron and a idiot. Heres the forums suggestions. Put 3.8 back on and get iridium or copper plugs. BYBY. Id pray its the platinums child.

P.S can you give me a vid of the current setup driving hard from 0-100 please :th_thumbsup-wink:

why wont you listen to any of us?

il say it again, these cars hate platinum plugs change them. when you take the plugs out make sure they are not damaged from a chunk of piston smashing them.

if the plugs come out looking ok your safe for now. if one is smashed, you chipped a piston.

and take the 3.4 off, before it does blow up on you.

now go do 1/2 a tune up already will ya.......

If the car runs bad at any time, something is wrong. Listen to us who have been down this road or your next post is going to be "my sh1t's really blown" and we'll just quietly chuckle to ourselves how we told ya so.

^ yup and we"ll be sure to quote your previous post when it does to sort of say we told you so. Just listen to us and avoid the future headache.

its day 2 and hes done nothing but say it runs fine till 5 psi of boost lol fix something.

if you dont own tools, head on down to lowes and get a 30 piece socket set for like 25 bucks. its what i mainly use for tools.( you rarely need more then that) every socket set has a 5/8's spark plug socket.

Yup

And it's a 3800 it takes basic tools to get just about everything fixed on it

id make sure its a standard and metric set tho. you need the metric for sure with these cars. but you also need standard sometimes, once again, its what i use.

then i have another box of open and box wrenches, some larger sockets, a 1/2 breaker bar and socket, a 3/8 breaker bar, some pullers and other tools. but nothing got bought over night. just as you need it.

if you got a harbor freight near by thats the best place for cheap tools of all sorts.

i took a friend of mine there, and he now hates me for it. he now goes there on his own. little by little i see new tools at his house.

oh yeah, but cheap imply's not good quality.

for what it is, its worth it tho. i picked up my soldering iron on sale for 3 bucks, a box of shrink tubes for 3 bucks, and a 1/4 18 piece socket set, ratchet, swivel, 2 extensions, and a nut driver, and a bunch of small sockets sizes for 8 bucks i think. cant beat it.

even lawn mower engines, wood and metal shop tools, air tools, you name it they got.

Depends on what tools your needing and how often your going to use it..HF is the way to go. For my everyday/weekend tools I usually just wait until Black Friday comes around and I head out to Sears and purchase a socket/wrench completely set.

This thread needs to go into the "safely modding thread" under. What not to do....
japman502-you keep saying youve read on "here" about putting the 3.4 on, but now you wont listen to the same ppl who you say told this wrong information in the first? On top of what EVERYONE else has said, while your changing the plugs do a compression test, and a leak down test.

hi everyone im new here but i have a few questions i have a 99 gtp with a few small mods i recently swapped a 3.4 pulley and shortly after that i was getting KR but as the whether got colder it went away so i just put a 180 thermostat in yesterday so it would run cooler but right after i did it sputters when i go full throttle(WOT) or after it hits 4 psi i should also mention that when i did the thermostat i pulled one of the plugs to see if i should replace them but did not

Only mods are the pulley the stat after market boost gauge and flow master mufflers I runs to good to be blown

I have heard from this site that you can do a 3.4 pully without doing any mods and I have done a few

And the thing I find strange is it only started doing this after I put the thermostat in I'm gonna put the stok one back Monday and see if it goes away

Lol I couldn't begin to tell you how many websites and forums (includind this one)say you can put a 3.4 on a stock car and like I sai I have a cold air intake and ubend delete flow master mufflers and platinum plugs with bosh wires so its not completely stock and I no I did not blow the motor it's funny that I come on here for answers where everyone is supposed to be so smart about these vehicles but the first thing people start saying is a blown motor

I have a budy who has a programmer I just have to buy the software

I have the 180 thermostat that's were the problem started everything before the tsat was perfect and I'm not sure what my buddy has but he said we could drive down the road and set the car up through the computer so I guess it's a tuner idk but thanks for the help I'm gonna put the old stat back in and if it cures the problem then I'm gonna do the 104s and when I get a lil more money try and get the headers

It runs great it only sputters when I get on it really hard that's why I kno it's not blown and its only when I go over 5psi

Seriously.

You sir, are an idiot.

Never on this forum will see you can safely run a 3.4 with no flow mods.

"Ill see if I can buy headers." - You want to keep that 3.4? You need to buy headers now. The tstat isn't your problem. The plugs you have are joke and they need to replaced with coppers.

An "aftermarket boost gauge" and "flowmasters" dont count as a "mod." Sorry to burst your bubble.

Put the fvcking stock pulley on before your engine blows to pieces. Dont want to listen to us? Go ahead and find out first hand. You'll be sorry.

To add to what Dan said none of the sites say you can run a 3.4 pulley with no mods anywhere. Hell Blues sticky is on at least 3 or 4 of them, and even the vendors say you need mods to run a 3.4 pulley. So please do what you have been told to do over the last 3 pages.

Better yet, since you've been researching oh so much on this forum, you found you can run a 3.4 without flow mods here on this site.

Please link us to where you found that, we all would love to see it.

I think this guy has been scolded enough guys. I'm sure he offended the group, but don't you think this is enough? I'm sure the point is well worn in and it's all up to him now. I feel you guys will agree as I agree with all of you.

Actually I'm with Dan I want to know where on this site and other sites it says you can run a 3.4 pulley with no mods.
