Minichopper6hp(Logan)'s Intercooler

check out those links. you tap the front and rear valve covers and make a loop for the air to take. vacuum on the rear, fresh air on the front.

all of the vendor intercooling setups will have a functional PCV. i think logans new core also allows for PCV to function normally. hopefully he will chime in.

The new core will allow for pcv but the old core was so HUGE that there was no room to drill a hole and make it work. You could do an external pcv like bio said, that will work just fine. For the vacuum leak, did you find where its coming exactly?

ok so i went to target and they didnt even carry the silicone sheets u were talking about so i went and got a little thicker material of gasket maker sheets and some blue gasket maker silicone. siliconed every side to make sure there was no way it could be a vacuum leak. didnt cake it on there but wasnt stingy with it. Got it all back together. And it settled down a little. Still sounds like its cammed but not as bad anymore. My guess would have to be that its the PCV. Still battling the thermostat problem. Got it to quit leaking but the temp just rises so quick. What should my fuel pressure normally be at?

I am assuming that the thermostat has the three pieces to it that you put in and bled it correctly?(the thermostat, small rubber gasket with recess in it that goes around the diameter of the thermostat and also the seal gasket(flat).........just checking. You did cycle coolant with the cap off of the radiator while cool and used the small bleeder on the waterneck?

Yes did the whole process with that and finally got it to quit. The idling i just cant figure out. im almost dead positive there is no vaccuum leaks cause i sprayed all vac hoses and all around lower intake manifold and in between the s/c and intercooler. no change in idle speeds. Im stumped i just dont know what to do.

also tap the idle air control valve. if you had the throttle apart at all and removed it it could either be dead or not seating properly. pull it and see if its making a nice seal and if not replace.

So basically i ended up taking it off after the 3rd time and just put the supercharger back on to see if the problem still came up. Well it ran perfectly fine after doing that. I know that it was completely sealed because i used some silicone this last time. The IAC is fine. Never had the throttle body at all during the build. So basically it just needs PCV functionality. Ill be selling the intercooler core if someone wants to attempt to mess with the PCV. Im just not down to tap into my valve covers to run an external PCV setup.

Hmm...so it don't work...awesome :th_laugh-lol3:

it would work just fine with an external PCV. a lot of people run them and they are fairly easy to put together.

well if i recieve my intercooler then i figure mine will need the same.....how do you make this external pcv...also, i didnt think the pcv did anything in these cars. mine is blocked off at the top of the supercharger:th_scratchhead:
