maybe my second grand prix

So I went to look at this grand prix 2001 gt.. body is in good shape but overall the whole car is dirty! Started the car and there's this noise that sounds like a lifter? It's from the back Valve for sure but I can't pin point it.. car has 171k miles now they only want 500$ for the car and overall I feel like it's worth it but I'm worried about the ticking noise also the oil was over full and was pretty black... and also they said the car has sluggish power.. like it has "No balls" was the term he used lol I'll see if I can upload pics.. In the mean time leave opinions
 


definately wanna test drive it and put a mild beating on it....should answer some shoulda,coulda,woulda questions

For $500 even if it needs an engine 3800s are cheep. Clean it new engine sell for like 2k. Looks to be a fully loaded GT from the pics.
 


No not all all.. my only scare is in the engine because of that ticking

There selling it so cheap because they say it doesn't have "Balls" it seems it lost its power an now is sluggish

looks like you might want to bring it to the car wash and leave all the windows open

well Jeez..do the people seem competent,apparently not,with the oil black.

you take off the engine cover
check for leaks,crappy looking wires,etc....and drive it..or doesn't it move?

cool..not trying to push your buttons..and 500 bucks is 500 bucks....but if a new engine might have to go in why not drive it to death

never know,might be something simple,you and the good ol boys can trouble shoot

is 500 the bottom line?
