Mass laws suck, Be Warned

Timing

So apparently starting next year mass is going to be failing people for no report when going for a sticker so that meens no more removing codes from the pcm for your cat or egr delete :( today i put my egr back in and now have to go get a cat welded in.

Time to pack up and move or Regis your car in another state. For example my sister lives in Washington but is regis in Florida to avoid all the inspection b/s.

whaaaaaaat... DAMNIT
i was warned about this a little while back by a mechanic i knew and didnt believe it untill the other day when my buddy who took the inspection test said he went to a seminar or something and was told the same thing

LOL.. Hmmm that's going to make it very tough for people to pass at all. I'm surprised it can read the pcm codes and the status of how they are set.

It's also why even my super big monster build had a cat on it. You can go fast and fun with a cat. For visual inspection here in CT, I kept the EGR, Evap, Cat...you name it. Everything was there. Functional....only thing not functional was the EGR.

MA has always had stupid laws about modifying cars... people still mod regardless... there is usually a loop hole to almost everything... Seems MA is always getting worse and worse as the years pass :(

Why not have a cat? I've read a few places here and elsewhere that the good ones are pretty hard to outflow... Like bill said all that stuff doesn't make that big a difference, just keep it on the car and no problems

I'm surprised it can read the pcm codes and the status of how they are set.

I'm confused about this part. How are they going to tell how the PCM codes are set to report or not? Are they gonna pull the bin file from every car and inspect the code?

I may be dumber than a flat rock, but as far as I'm concerned, they should stick the analyzer up your tailpipe and if it's under the pollution limits (maybe even at a couple of different rpms), it's over, no matter what you have under your hood. We are losing our freedoms and the ability to innovate in a wide variety of ways, and this is just another.

If these buildings full of minions would quit writing regulations, we'd have less dead weight to support and more room for innovation and improvement. But they won't because it's job security, I suppose.

Well..ya see Tom, they are aware that we can pass tests and then easily change things back to super polluting very easily. I agree though..

You can get fake cats to be able to pass the visual. And it's likely the inspection computer will have a list of what the vin should have for reporting and check it automatically. This is such bs, I have my evap and I still had to put everything to no report in order to get the PCMs emission tests to test.

Did this change already happen? my sticker is up in Dec. so i will let you guys know. I have no cat and i had the p0420 code deleted so we shall see

Having buddies in the business in Mass... I'm having things confirmed today. We will know for sure if the computer they plug in compares what the code should be set to vs what it is set to.

It seems that there are so many pcms and various codes etc that I'd find it tough to believe it's checking them. It might be though.
