maaaaaaasive fuel leak

Well, the car runs again finally.

But... The top of injector 4 (back mid) leaks HORRIBLY. It just gushes, sprays everywhere.

I took the injector out, fiddled with it, replaced both o-rings (again) and put everything back together. Making sure everything was tight and fully seated.

I think it got worse. I've taken it off again...

What do?

Took it apart, again. Replaced orings, again. Swapped 2 of the injectors. Still leaking badly.

Fuel is pushing upward from the injector.

Could the pigtail be bad, and it's not communicating with the injector?

It's got to be one of 2 things.

The fuel rail got bent somehow.

Or injector pigtail 4 isn't communicating. Leaving the injector closed. I did just notice the insulator is missing inside of it.

But if that were the case, wouldn't fuel just flow past it?

It wasn't leaking as bad this 4th time. =/

Looks like that bluetooth obd in reader wasn't such a bad investment this summer.

Just gotta figure out how to use it.

The top of injector 4,at the fuel rail.

"injector seal", what's that?

Apparently you can just plug a parking light bulb into your injector socket to test it. LMAO.

Odd.

if swapping the injector and new o rings dont stop it from leaking id think the fuel rail got bent some how, or some thing is keeping it from seating in the rail.

clogged injector wont leak fuel it just wont spray fuel out the nozzle.

take yours off, bring it to the junk yard walk in with it, show the guy hey im bring this in to match it up. then swap it, take the jy one out with you, leave yours there.

some places will let this fly, some wont.

How will they not? Just say you couldn't find a better one.

depends on what type of drivers the pcm uses for injector control. putting a low resistance bulb into a saturated type injector circuit that expects 13ohms can fry the driver.

I know this may be a dumb question, but have you checked to see if there is an old o-ring or something stuck in the rail on #4?

I finally gave in and took the fuel rail off.

Good news and bad news.

Good news: the fuel rail is the problem
Bad news: the fuel rail is the problem

The #4 fuel rail injector inlet is indeed bent, more like crimped. Not too bad, but obviously bad enough. So instead of messing with it any more, I'm just going to replace it.

My dad has been friends with a guy in my home town that, in fact, owns a junk yard. So I called him this morning.

$25 for a fuel rail (with the injectors). Win.

I might end up making money on this hiccup after all.
