Lurking Regal owner



ive had my car stripped down like that too, crazy how easy it all comes out, after the console and seats its all over lol.

sadly my car was flooded a bit, and i had to gut it to save it, took 2 weeks for the carpet to dry, hanging in a garage in a cool time of year. lots of baking soda and a carpet shampooer and its all good.
 
Sweet ride love that you bought it at 45k and maintained it properly to keep her going past 200k /tip hat for a dedicated regal owner

need to get me one of those fuel rails mine driving me insane

that heavy rubber mat is a good 15lbs weight reduction just about (complete monster) and if your getting some sound deadening anyway I would do away with it. they make a decent dye for the carpets too that comes in cans I had used while doing another car if your thinking of any color theme on the inside good time to hit it

Thanks man. I searched around for a while before I found this car. I was in love with it for about 6 months until the novelty of a new car wore off and I had car payments. I had a 4 year loan but after about 3 years I just scrounged up enough money to pay it off altogether. I all of the sudden fell in love with my car again. I will never do car payments on a car again. I dread the day that something happens to this one, but I can't see myself driving anything else.

Which rubber mat are you referring to? Are you talking about the one in the rear deck? I was sort of wondering about that. I've got a deadening/stereo guru I'm going to probably defer to for advice.

Do it like I did. You know I went all the way on deadening. On the carpet. I find a pressure washer with the carpet hanging somewhere works awesome.
 
Yeah, I thought about hanging it and shooting it with some carpet cleaner and then just spraying the crap out of it. I'll still need new floor mats though. My driver's mat has a hole in it from my heel.

Don't have the bumper cover on, but based on photos I've seen from other people mounting in the same place, it's about 50%.

Did you get the bottom tabs on the lower part of the rad support? That's the typical way I see/do them in this area. We have too much weather etc to do much else. You should get decent airflow with that .

Yeah, I used a couple of body clips like you suggested. I had to cut part of the lower support since it wasn't a straight line across. You can see that my FMHE isn't totally level, but I don't forsee any problems. I posted that pic from Paul's car above. I know that he mounted his FMHE there as well, so I imagine mine should look pretty similar.

Well, I guess I don't know exactly what you are asking since the bumper support is directly behind the bumper cover. If you look at my pics, you can see the bumper support mounting spots. Use your imagination and put a line across it. It looks to be about 50%. Also, there is about an inch of clearance at the corners and 4-5" in the center.
 
And honestly removing the support, isn't going to open up the bumper cover for you. It's not like the Bonne I had where I pulled the fogs because those holes were dead center and through the bumper cover.

Yeah, exactly why I'm not seeing a reason to cut into it. I actually did have one idea though. I was surprised at how open/hollow that thing was. If I can find some good HVAC stuff from the JY, I may put sort of an "air collector" down low somewhere and loop some lines in through some HVAC tubes that would dump out right at the center of the upper part of the FMHE.(Also on the JY engineering research at this point). I just don't know where I can mount the inlets to get good airflow and not look gay.
 


Leave them off...they are fogs. hell you could even pull them. Put melt some black funnels into ovals and hook them straight to where the fogs should be. Attach hose and be done.
 
In a GP there are quite a few pieces that direct the air from the bottom inlet to the entire area of the condenser and let it go nowhere else but through the condenser.
