• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

low boost

Boost increase /rpm/ = restriction. I replaced my 03 cobras eaton supercharger with a whipple to elimate boost drop off at high rpm as for the rest of the you/bs im just replying to the origonal post

...what? blowers do not drop boost up top, they gain it. turbos drop boost up top unless they are sized correctly.

well that was an interesting 24hrs, so my question now is if boost spike is normal on a root style blower then how the hell do you tune the spark tables smooth if your being forced to go from 25 degrees of timming to 5 degrees of timing to get rid of the kr at the top of the rpms. i have 0 counts untill 4,000 then i get 2 until i shift or let off and im down to 5 degrees of timing and i already added fuel to compinsate and im still getting kr

Perma-ban? Or temp-ban?

you need some exhaust and intake mods too lower your boost and cool the intake charge. then tune it and see what you get.

i was gonna say but dident want to fool with it.

the boost spike is normal up top like that, tune the spark by the rpms......
Im probably wrong with the restriction theory . But i do know on my cobra i purchased a whipple for more more boost capability but also it was more efficent at higher rpm without pressure drop off Look @ whipple.com

Forgive me here im trying to figure out how to reply to the post and screwing up selecting the wrong quotes . I will go to the newbe site

a whipple would probably be more efficient at higher boost levels than the stock blower is. it doesnt make the boost more smooth or change how it is applied in any way.

Im going to throw a set of headers on this week an see what happens i mean other than my intake and northstar kit the car is pretty much stock it just amazes me that gm can justify putting that much timing in the car from the factory especially with a blown motor an for what a couple more mpgs

you can tune cruise and WOT differently. run low timing up top if you cant make it work. no big deal. with headers youll be able to tune it all out though.

Hey new to the forum, anyways, i have a 2000 gtp and im only getting 6 pounds of boost untill i hit around 4,000rpm then it spikes to 9 and stays there untill i let off. can anyone help with that, trying to tune and its impossible with that boost creep.

mods are
northstar kit
ngk tr6
stock pulley size
I think the spike from 6# to 9# is wierd. I saw a guy with a 66 corvet normally aspirated build a engine and show low numbers for the build. he added cutouts to bypass the exhaust and gained 90 hp on the dyno go figure. I have a old van that with rattleing in the cat could cause restriction. I still think exhaust could cause spike. Boost creep would be ok WOT tune should be ok . How about belt slippage untill it gets hot then hooksup driving the blower quick to a spike

no belt slippage, the pulleys are fine and the belts are new, the headers go on this week so i will see what that does but thanks for the info every little bit helps

That can be arranged :th_nanana: How ya been stranger! I have not seen you since the last i70 Speedway get together! :)

Baby, married, demoded to save dog from cancer, bought dog five months, miss her terribly. remodded car, car runs good, got a new job, paid 10,000 worth of credit cards since november, saved house, building an intercooler, getting ready to smack nick for being mean. When did this place turn into Clubgp?
