Longer tire life

Read in a magazine, "how to heat cycle new tires" Once you get the new tires find a empty parking lot and do 6 skid pad style circles, just big round even circles. Make tires get hot to the touch, if not do more circles then do the same amount the opposite direction. Drive straight home and get the car off the ground or take the wheels off and store in a cool place for 24 to 48 hours. The article said to lay them flat so the whole tire gets the same amount of time to cool. This may sound weird but it is to tighten up the bonding of the rubber and makes the tires last longer once theyve been heated and cooled. kind of like heat treating metal. give it a shot i know i will once i get a new set.

have no idea like i said i read it in a car magazine d sport or 0-60 i cant remember. ill find out once i do it with the new tires i plan on getting very soon.

Almost sounds like a gimick to me... You may benefit by 5,000 miles tops but in the end you still have to replace them.

To get the max life out of tires, I would buy new tires, get my vehicle aligned, get my tires rotated every 6,000 miles and keep my tire pressure at 35 psi. You know what the best part is? You can keep your tires correctly inflated in your driveway, and you can rotate tires in your driveway too! All you need is a jack and some jack stands :)

HMM funny thing is you can do every thing i said in your driveway and with some jack stands too. :th_biggrin2: Now what if you did everything you said which is the obvious, PLUS what I suggested??? I dont think youve made any point about what I said about heat cycling for longer life.

Lol, who needs jack stands when you have a shop with a hoist? :th_nanana:

I really didn't prove anything haha. I just think its a gimick. Sometimes my mind runs TOO wild for my own good and I say something stupid. If you want examples, read some of my previous posts if you haven't already... I'm rather embarrassed :th_shakinghead1:

LOL wasnt trying to be a prick just pointing some thing out worth trying seems like most of the people on here Im sure are trying to get everything they can from what they do to their cars.

x2 on the hoist. I hate working under my car at home after using a hoist at work and school. I will own one someday. Only about $3000.

Add another 0 and thats what id like to spend on a new garage 30,000 would do nice for a heated floor bath room and 2 post lift in something like 25x40 14ft side walls. :th_biggrin2: only if i can get deployed again.....

I order my lift in the spring its 2800 for a 2 post portable lift that is a full lift and not a mid lift
Then again i should have a shop up and running in some capacity by then

As for the tire thing Im lazy and drive hard so i just figure Im in the hole 400 every 18 months or so for tires
