• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Loc's 1998 GTP

Eeellllooooo (Mrs Doubtfire)

My Hubs came in. A bit dark and a bit cold to change em out. I'll do it tomorrow

Fobs arrived also. Followed Programming procedure without success. Tried another one that was posted and it too didn't work. Anyways finally figured it out. At the instructions where it says Open/close door and a chime will sound never happened.

Instead mine would flash the Seatbelt and Ding once...then twice....then 3x....then 4. It would repeat it continuously after a slight pause after 4. So anyways on my 3rd attempt of trying to get a single chime I finally gave up and when it started it's multiple chiming I just held the unlock/lock and in the middle of the 3 chimes...it stopped...chimed once (kept holding buttons) then chimed again about 5 seconds later. I grabbed the other one and it chimed ONCE after 7 seconds (held it for 30). Anyways it worked and they work fine.

Installed new hubs.

Still no ABS/TCC/Cruise.

So quick question....

Do I need to reset the computer or should it "correct itself"

On a side note, my friends Scanner would communicate with the ABS Module so either his scanner don't like my car or the ABS Module is bad. But would a bad ABS module cause Cruise not to work? Anyways I'll do some digging and see what I can find out.

Update: Found out how to reset just the ABS Module. The TCC light finally went off but the ABS light is still on. Havent driven anywhere yet so I'll wait until Tues (vacation ends tomorrow) and see if the TCC stays off and if the cruise works.

theres no reset, when fixed the light will go off on its own.

do you mean the scanner wont communicate, or it does? if it wont check the power port fuse, the obd2 port runs off the same fuse.

Sorry Scottydoggs, the scanner wouldn't communicate with the ABS module. I was typing a bit fast lol. The power ports work and the scanner can read and reset P0440 error (and purge Solenoid error). But whenever I have it access the ABS it takes a bit (loading bar gets to 94%) and says unable to communicate with ABS Module.

I've read some Innova scanners don't like our ABS module so that POSSIBLY could be the reason. Tomorrow I'm gonna check all the harnesses at the sensors for continuity.

I bet your EBCM is bad. I changed all my hubs thinking it was a wheel sensor. ended up needing a whole new EBCM. I eventually picked up a couple of good ones at the JY as they're known to fail.

And everything is looking great my friend. gotta love the cheap, minty car scores. I picked up my GP for $600 threw a MAF at it and took off lol

And just in case you have an air bag light.... Your pass floor board is probably a pool of water under the carpet and it shorted the module. if not, then you're doing better than I was lol

Ty Ty.

Havent gotten around to checking the harness yet....too much damn snow. Wife wants a GP also so gonna purchase a Tech II scanner.

Nope only issues I have is an Evap Solenoid and the ABS/TCS/Cruise. Everything else is working just fine :). I'll check out the harness once it warms up then I'll purchase a Tech II and check out the ABS system from there :)

Got my wish list figured out and many changes coming end of Feb :)

Oh Good! yeah the EBCM controls all 3 of those. if you have an ABS light, bye bye amenities lol. And you stated you couldn't get anything to come up on the scanner? if so that's a tall tail sign that the EBCM is fer sure deader than a door nail.

If/when you do pick up an EBCM they can only come out of another GTP cause of the magnasteer n shizzz

Let me know what conclusion you come to as I have a few here and would be happy to cut you a deal on one of mine :)

Oh also another trick to see if its bad is if youre going down the road and you shift into N the speedo will drop to 0 even if you're going say 35mph lol

Sweet I'll try that on my way to work.

And I'll let ya know. My "shop" doesnt have a door so my work depends on Weather vs How-Bad-I-Want-Something-Fixed lol

Ok....
On my way to work was doing 40 and slipped it to neutral. Speedo went to zero after a couple seconds. Put it back in drive and went back to 37. So pretty good chance abs module is shot

What would you guys recommend to keep side molding on? The front part of the molding is sticking out and hitting the quarter panel when I open the door.

Had to pull my driver door molding off. It was starting to stick out pretty far. Gonna pick up some 3M tape, Goo Gone, and scrapper and fix it properly this weekend

Hey ya'll. Not much to post. Got my Budget ready and getting ready to start buying parts.

I do have one little thing. I noticed the other day I was cruising down a "hill" doing 50. Took my foot off the gas to coast down it. I noticed the idle came down then start fluctuating between 700 and 1200 rpms. It's not fast at all and doesnt affect the car, I just happened to notice it. I have ZERO idle/throttle issues other than that. And it only does it when coasting with foot off gas. Wouldn't even had noticed it had I not been looking at the Tach lol.

Could my TPS be having a hiccup?

Haven't gotten around to the molding yet. I got the molding cleaned up but it's been snowing lightly since Sat :(.

I can pretty much guarantee the fluctuation is the TCC solenoid. pretty much everyone deals with this problem and it shows its ugly face in different ways lol. However its not usually an issue and can be run like that for a long time.

Hello My friends,

Haven't really done much. Waiting for taxes to come back to finish a few things (arent we all).

In the meantime, quit my job after 15 yrs beings I got accepting in something else. Been a School Bus Driver/Tech since 2002. Now moving up to Shop Supervisor of a Tour Bus Company. MUCH better benefits and 3x the pay (literally). Gonna be interesting, since I don't know the first thing about a Prevost Tour Bus (which my new boss knows lol).

Quick question for gear heads. I have yet to fix the ABS/TCS Module on my car, but the other day I jumped n the girl and got massive wheelspin. About 2 seconds later the entire thing shut down. I was accelerating very slowly. Pulled my foot from the pedal then re-applied and she immediately responded.

Even though my TCS OFF light is illuminated I am assuming this was TCS operating (even though it "off"). Just running it past others to confirm my theory.

sounds like tc is still working, but normally if the abs light is on the tc also quits working. when tc kicks in it kills timing and the engine has like no power, so it cant spin the wheels. feels awful.

i gave up on fixing my abs. i pulled the abs fuse from the inside fuse box, i get just one yellow abs light on the dash and its fully disabled.

^^ that right there is torque management and your PCM basically pulls all the timing until the car has traction again.

and don't give up on the ABS, you probably just need a new EBCM and I have a few in muh garage I could give you one. $30 shipped

no its not tq management, its traction control, theres a file where you can turn it off.

tm is something different all together.
