Light bulb question?

Hello,

Can anyone please tell me, on my 99 GT, are the words on the HVAC panel that read DRIVER and PASSENGER, and equally, the red and blue bars for climate temp, supposed to light up?

I assume so, but just asking to be sure. All my buttons light up, but nothing to the left and right of the buttons.

If so, I got some bulbs burned out!

Just wanting to know so I do not waste time taking it apart for no reason. And if they are soldered in place, I can desolder and re-solder, done it before, no biggie.

Thanks,

is thinking the answer is yes, does this resemble yours at all?

Hey,

Sorry, I should have stated, it has the electronic climate controls. However, like you are thinking, I think it is supposed to light similar to yours. I found the heated seat switch and one of the steering wheel controls burned out last night and fixed those already.

I did all my Vibes radio bulbs a few weeks ago. If anyone is wondering, RadioShack has 12V bulbs that work real well. You must know how to solder though... Not sure what my climate control bulbs look like, but wil most likely get the bulbs from RadioShack.

If you have the ECC you dont have bars do you? I just have two knobs, one on each side of the unit. One for passenger and one for driver and they do not light up. Unless yours are different? I have two rows of buttons to push for which placement I want, an AC button, one is recirc button, the fan speeds, one up one down, rear defrost, etc. Do you have a pic of yours?

I dont believe that the bars light up at night, but I dont remember for sure. I will try to get a pic after dark if I can remember...

Well I found out last evening, there are four bulbs back there. Much like jakegday's pic. All four of mine were burned out. Replaced all and looks a lot better!

There is plenty of room in the control head for LEDs if someone wanted to go that route, I stuck with bulbs since that is what I had in the old parts dept. The bulbs are once again, soldered in place.

sounds like the car had some type of electrical surge.......glad you found out. Now I dont feel so bad for forgetting to take the pic....LOL

Hey no problem, I appreciate the thought!

I believe these bulbs and a couple others just went due to age. The car has 130K on it and with these auto headlamps, all the bulbs get used a lot. The last one to address is the door lock, which comes and goes. Could be a cracked filament moving around and occasionaly makinig contact, or a bad/cracked solder joint for an LED if it is an LED in there. Usually with these old bulbs, if you flick them hard enough with your finger, you can break the filament inside.
