Lifter Tick Questions

leave the side cover on the lim, no need for it to come off.

flush the lifter valley with new oil let it drain out the oil pan plug. waste a couple qts of oil.

the 4 corners of the block where the rubber and metal lim gaskets meet. a dab in all 4 corners on bare metal, then install the gaskets, then another dab in the corners smear it so its touching both gaskets.

Hey, so, how much 50/50 coolant should I dump into the radiator before starting it up? Then fill the coolant reservoir to the line.... Also, just run it for a few minutes before dropping the oil and putting some new stuff in to make sure all the particles are out? Probably change the oil filter then too?

I never used the 50/50 crap, I do what's Scotty does and just dump 1 gallon of straight coolant then feel the rest of the radiator with distilled water

if theres old coolant in there you can flush it to water then add one gallon of full strength coolant to the rad.

or just re fill it with 50/50, if you buy the full strength coolant, then use a old one gallon jug of what ever, split and top off both containers and now you have two gallons of coolant for the price of one.

run it for a couple minutes, if the rockers are clapping like a freight train let it run till they stop making noise, ( 5 to 10 minutes) then change oil and the filter.

Oh, so, we just drained it out the plug on bottom the rad, and whatever came out the hoses we disconnected. So, I'll just throw a full-strength in the rad and fill up the res with water.

Sounds like I got a vac leak on the rear driver's side of the engine.... Hissing, sounds like air.

Oh, yeah, I checked that over.... Didn't appear to be it, I'll look over it more when I get home from work tomorrow.

The O-ring that goes on the part of the brake booster hose that goes into the UIM looked old and crappy, but we didn't have any that were the right size. Used some silicone, seemed to work for a while, but now the air noise is back and it doesn't idle right. Guessing that was the issue then, getting an O-ring this week.

Something that has me worried though, every so often when I start it I'll get a ticking noise for like 3/5 seconds, then it goes away. What's up with that?!
