Lifter Tick Questions

its not a o ring, its just a rubber grommet the hose plastic end pushes into on the booster.

get some carb cleaner, spray all injectors and vac lines, all gaskets areas, uim, the egr tubes, tb gasket, lim gaskets. aka the whole top of the engine.

if carb cleaner spray is used and it hits a leak area the idle will jump up. if you use brake cleaner the idle will drop

next oil change do a mix of 40 and 30 weight oil. 3 qts of 5-40, 2 of 5-30. that shut my lifter tick up when it was acting up in the old engine. come winter times oil change id go back to 30 weight only.

mine would do 3 to 5 loud claps, more then a tick, then just stop. only on a cold start, like it sat over night.

Thanks for the tips Scotty! Yeah, mine will only do it if it's been sitting for a good day or so. Just a bunch of clitter clatter for 5/8 seconds.

Got a new O-ring, didn't fix it, found the leak, coming off of the EGR tube....,probably cracked? Can I drive it a bit like this, like, that's okay, right?

smear the egr tube with orange rtv. should seal it up.

you can drive it sure, but its a vac leak, it should be fixed.

So, I used some JB-Weld on the tube, but I couldn't get to the whole area where the leak is coming from (UIM, LIM, piping....) - still leaks, so, have to take the retarded thing off and just JB-Weld the crap out of the whole tube.

Also, when I started it up this morning the lifter tick was much longer than normal, ~25 seconds..... Kinda has me worried. Might do the oil change right now. BTW, I'm running 10w-30, ATM.
