Leaking oil at pulley end on S/C

Bill, how much oil will I lose when I replace the seal? Just wondering whether to buy two bottles or just one.

i just want the whole thing rebuit the guy i bought it from had two of them and i guess the second was in really ****ty condition so right now its gettin polished and than im gonna have it rebuilt just to make sure u know im also gonna talk to the hs about gettin my rockers rebuilt as well. the problem here in salt lake is nobody reuilds s/c

GM has said we can use Mobil 1, but gear lube is thicker than you want to put into the SC. You want a thin lubricant, not thick.

It's pretty easy to rebuld. Take a look at the site linked above and check out the rebluiding.

I will just stick with the GM oil that originally came in it. The Mobil 1 idea, though, would be a good thing to remember if I get in a pinch some time.

ISO 32 is similar to 0W-20 which is similar to GM supercharger fluid.

Gm says Mobil 1 5W-30 in southern states all year round. In northern states, you should switch back to GM stuff for the winter.

Or run ISO 32 or 0W-20.

But the GM stuff has the same cost, same performance, lasts much longer.

Can the seal be replaced without removing the snout from the supercharger body? By these instructions, it sounds like it needs to be off, but this is also talking about a rebuild, though.

Eaton snout rebuild

just pump the old fluid out, and take it off, all you need to do is, remove the belts, alternator, flop it to the side, unbolt the snout and slide it off. get new fluid, and some of that sealant for the s/c,(i forget the name of it) i used high heat rtv, its been holding for over a year now. very thin smear on both sides of the case and snout, is more than enough.

im sure it would be easier to work on off the car.

crap, well, I wish I'd have known that before I bought the seal, or I would have gotten the coupler, too, if I'm going to have it off, anyhow. I guess it's my fault for not asking ahead of time.:o

that link sounds promising, idk if the puller can fit on the end of the snout and not have anything in the way. others should know this one. ive never been down that road yet.
