• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Knocking or tapping loud!

That's def not the flex. Sounds like top end or flex plate maybe? Pull the belts off and see if it still makes the noise.

I'm assuming it wasn't making this noise before you did the LIM gasket. Did it make this noise immediately after the work was done? Did you reuse the stock rocker arm bolts? Is your oil light coming on at idle? Does the noise follow increased RPM?

If removing the belt doesn't make a difference I would check the rockers or the rest of the valve train. I hope it's just a tensioner or the balancer like slick2500 says.

Noise increase with RPMS?

Did you change the oil twice after doing said LIM job?

To me it almost sounds bottem end related.

Metal sparkles in the oil at all?

And I guess it wouldnt hurt to take the belts off to see if anything changes.

The noise started after I put 11miles on the car after I did the l.I.m so I have not done a second oil change. It does get louder with more rpms and won't shift right if I get on it a little. I'm going to take all the belts off and crank it over to see if any thing changes

I'm sorry. I forgot that the LIM can be replaced without removing the rockers.

So did you do anything to the valve train?...like cam or lifters recently?

Well I checked the oil and it looks like a Chocolate milk shake. I never did open the valve covers. So I'm thinking the engine is shot

Every time I hear or read this I get sick in the stomach for the person involved. You probably spun a bearing or two. You got your work cut out for ya now. Maybe you could drop the pan and check the rod bearings. It's not that hard if you have a good set of metric ratchet wrenches (15mm). An oil pressure test couldn't hurt either.

depending on where you are in ohio i have a short block l67 in my garage i'd let go of cheap to help you out.

Its sucks that's what my father and uncle that is a mechanic said might have spun a bearing so I guess I could do what you said or can I just get any 3.8 engine and drop it in

Unless your an engine builder I wouldn't even mess with it; just replace it with a good virgin short block. I would take him up on this.
