Has anyone put on new wheels and kept the wheel pressure monitoring system?

you have to either take them out of your stock wheels or buy a new set which is exspensive. mine comes on when i first put my 20's on and i just go to the TPMS and reset it and it never pops up again
 
Thanks, I was hoping it would be like that. I want to keep my old set of wheels and tires for Winter. I'll have to decide be them if I want to spend the money for another set of sensors.
 
there is four used set on ebay right now. just got to ebaymotors.com and type in grand prix TPMS in the search key and they will come up
 
They look like they bolt to the wheel through the air valve hole. My wheels look like regular valve stems. :th_scratchhead:
I wonder if mine are the ones that the computer compares the rotation of the tires to set the low tire pressure warning? Mine isn't like my daughter's Cobalt that tells her the pressure of each tire.

Yes, that's what mine does. The manual says when 1 tire is 12 lbs different from the others. It is close to that. I've used it more than a couple of times. :D
 
What year is your car.... Gm used several types of tpms in their cars. Some of the early systems were indirect systems that rely on the wheel sensors. Through the abs system it can tell if a tire is low based on the rolling diameter of the tire. Then some of the systems use a bolt in system which is a part of the valve stem. The valve stem is alum. Don't use metal caps on these because they currode on and when you remove them you snap the stem . Most recently gm used a rubber style snap in valve stem, but it looks bigger than the regular standard rubber stem. The tpms sensor then bolts to the base of the stem inside the wheel.
 


Your system may only be an indirrect system using your abs system. In 2007 it bacame a manditory safety item. Are your stems just regular rubber?
