Keeping headlights off during day but still on auto.

I have an 07 GXP. I want to have the auto function of the headlights, but don't want the headlights on during the day. I am hoping that there is a way to do this without changing the setting on a tech II. Any help will be appreciated. thanks

Only thing is... an 07 doesn't have DRL's in the headlights. It has them in the fogs... so what's the problem?

Exactly. Pulling the heatsink behind the headlight switch in the dash is how you disable the DRL's but still have the twilight sentinel. IIRC though, only 1997-2000's can do this. 01+ cars, with pulling that heatsink the chime module will start going off.

No problem in my 01 or 02 I used to have with doing this.

Works on all 97-03 GP. 04+ are different. Some had the DRL's in the fogs and others had the DRL's in the headlights.

Hmm..I could've sworn that one of those methods wouldn't work on the 01+ cars. Maybe it was the pulling of the fuse that did this.

I tried pulling the fuse before i originally posted. There is a fuse for each headlight, high and low, and one for the fog lamps and one for the park lamps. I believe the ambient light sensor is the only thing telling the headlights to be on. When the DRL's ore on, they are at a lower power input than when all the lights turn on when it is dark enough out. If I pull the fuse i get a chime telling me to check the headlights fog light or park lights. I have a feeling that the only way I can change the settings are with a Tech II scanner. Could a dummy fuse work? Would that stop the message and kill the ambient sensor?

Wrong. The 04 and 05 have them in the parking lights. 06-08 has the DRL's in the low beams.

I figured since 04-05 did and that's the only way I see it on the streets, that it went that way for all of them.

Yep, the Malibu and CTS, along with the GP went from parking light DRL to lowbeam DRL in 2006, so GM did something like that across the board at that time...
