• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Just spent 1700 dollars!

Yep. If doing an engine and transmission swap, putting cam, headers.... (well I have everything EXCEPT an intercooler and LS1 TB) makes me a broke redneck because I decided to pick something more efficient in both price and usefulness, then I'll gladly wear the title. I'll also laugh as your car looks at my taillights because you wasted more money than me and still aren't any faster.

I did all the work on my car myself except the exhaust I had fabbed. Now I'd even try that since I got a welder. I'm a jack of all trades, dabbling in mechanic and electrical engineering at times it seems... and a redneck. ;)

In all seriousness the CAI are better than the HAI, end of story. The price just doesn't justify the gains. If you have the money to blow on a CAI then go for it and slap it on there, if not then go the HAI. People will whine and try to justify their cheap intakes, as seen in previous posts, but the CAI is best for the car no matter what they say. It is just way to expensive for the SLIGHT benefits you see from them. IMO the best route to go is to get ceramic coated headers(mainly the crossover pipe) and a CAI. That and add a throttle body heat shield and you have the best possible intake for these cars. But the money you spend on that setup versus an open cone slapped straight on the throttle body is way to much for a small gain And the thread they are all referring to is BS in my opinion. It's just another broke redneck trying to "justify" his cheap intake versus actual intakes that are designed for performance. These are cheap vehicles so expect cheap mods to be the winner on the forum. But overall 1700 is way too much for the things you purchased. Should have gone intercooled. Oh and sorry if none of that made sense, I'm drunk :th_toothless:

I'll let it go because you were...ummm, "drunk".

Please don't pre-judge people and classify them "broke red-necks" just because we aren't ignorant enough to waste that kind of money on something that advertises as a "cold air intake" when obviously, after proven studies...is no more than a heat soaking pile of dog sh1t.

Smellin' what I'm steppin' in Jeeves? Good.

Lol love how people are hating on a cai... 270 bucks... Not a lot of money, I bet most people on here have more into blue interior lighting than that.... Or rattle can (custom) interiors... Point being I'm posting what I'm going and everyone becomes a critic. this isn't a troll post. Simply updating what I'm doing, thanks...

My original post was because you asked if you did good, and so I gave my opinion... everything else you bought seemed dandy. I just thought maybe you werent aware of how much money you could potentially be saving. To a lot of people 300 dollars is an amount worth raising an eyebrow at. No hard feelings, just trying to help out because I would be thrilled if someone showed me an option that was 260 dollars cheaper. I just dont know why some people come into these threads and the minute anyone mentioned CAI holds such minor gains over HAI, they turn green and go Hulk mode. It happens every time.

$300 = Headers.

Or.

$300 = Rockers.

Or.

$300 = Meth Kit

Or.

$300 = Full custom In-car tune via HPT.

But, I know nothing...and I gave valid input.

So, carry on...
