Just got car now knocking

2005 gtp 132k miles. Got the car with a miss on cylinder two. Turns out maybe someone pulled spark plug wire out back there. I plugged it back in. It ran better , but it broke up at wot. So I changed spark plugs and wires. Acdelco. Car now has full power and not missing anymore. Drive ten miles now rattling under the hood. Sounds bad. I got the car at an auction. I'm thinking now someone pulled number two wire to mask the problem. Car is in great shape. Interior perfect. Could it be the supercharger or can I really have Rod knock at 132k?

Guess I'll drive it till a rod slings out of the block. Can I use a non supercharged engine? This is my first front wheel drive vehicle. I own a 99 trans am and 06 envoy denali. Wish I would've bought something else to pay around with now

For a direct drop in without any other mods needed, you need a low compression L67 or L32 block.

Yea it's done. I just cranked it back up. The belt squeaked and it shut off by itself. It's done lol. Previous owner must have driven the piss out of it. I should've listened to my friend. He told me not to touch it.

Fixing what you did had really nothing to do with it spinning a bearing.

It's a common failure among theses motor, lack of care or moisture in the oil will kill them. Water or coolant is bad news.

Oil was fresh. I'm thinking lack of care from previous owner. I knew something was up with a low mileage gtp at an auction. I'll have to find another car to flip at the auction this week. Have to get this one up and running asap. So I would have no problem using an engine from an 2008 grand prix without supercharger option. Just swap my top end on it?

Swap the top half of it and have someone adjust the tune of the pcm, are you planning on flipping this or driving it? If your driving it your gonna want some flow mods.. At a minimal headers

You couldn't do to it without having to add mods like headers and a tune for sure.

The NA 3800 is a 9.4:1 compression ratio compared to the 8.5:1 on the supercharged cars. Higher compression with boost must have more exhaust flow and atleast a good tune to prevent it from killing itself.

Oh ok. I'll try to locate a supercharged engine then. Do the supercharged engine have problems with lower intake gaskets leaking into cylinders?
