The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.
Just bought a 1999 Grand Prix GTP. 159000 miles on it. Anything I should be ready for to fix or anything like that? Also where is a good place to start modding for more power? I was thinking of a zzp stage 2 kit.
Screw the kits. Check LIM gaskets, trans n motor oils, make sure there's no knocking and rattling. Should posts pictures of it by the way. And I'd stay away from zzp's kits. Yes they have good parts, but they're not worth the price with how they're combing certain parts together that might not entirely be "safe"

I'm with Drach, LIM gaskets, and service the trans, ZZP's trans shift kit is a good product too, add an external trans cooler.
Decent mods to start with would be a 3.5 pulley, downpipe, highflow cat, (ubend delete) and an air intake with at least a pretuned PCM or dyno tune
Although at your mileage id consider changing the valve springs as a smaller pulley will probably cause the stock springs to float the valves enough to kill a decent amount of power
I have a 99 GTP as well with 164,000 and the coolant elbows just went out. It was leaking like crazy and I still drove it for about a month to work and back filling it with mostly water before all drives. I ended up getting a new thermostat, upper and lower hoses, flush, elbows... I change the oil regualrly and run premium but other then that I haven't had any engine issues since I bought the car with 80,000 miles. Fun reliable car
i also have a 99' gtp with 219k on it now i haven't had any problems only thing I've replaced so far in the seven months that i owned it was the steering rack, tie rods, and thermostat. I also need to do the control arms since the bushings are bad
Well once I finally pick mine up I'm gonna do all the maintenance stuff before I start slapping on horsepower. What about regearing the car? Something like this ZZPerformance - Gear Ratio Conversion Kit #ZZ-GRCK
