JDrach's 98 Daytona - Snappin chains 4 days

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

No I did not. But I will prolly take some finish enhance n clay bar n see if that black gasket marking comes off. Idek what to do about the rust

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

I talked to my works body shop. They wanted to repaint the entire deck lid. Then I said screw that and they suggested getting touch up paint to cover the rust/clear coat spots.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

Got the car buffed and polished today and holy cow what a difference. I had swirl marks and streaks of scratches on every inch of paint on my car. The mirrors and front bumper were also nearly white due to the amount of rock chips and such. All of these are now completely non existent. The car looks practically new besides for all the door dings and hail dents. And in other good news, it gets to sit outside 24/7/365! Still trying to find appropriate time to get my darn VS cam in and tuned by PRJ since classes resume mid August. But, my ported blower should be going on tomorrow with the help of a buddy at work, hopefully we can knock it out in 3 hours after work. I couldn't find a spot that wasn't populated around home to take good pictures, so i snapped some when i got home.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

Ya that's what I was thinking, and this guy isn't a dummy to cars like me, so we should be good and I'll be happy to learn how to take the blower off. He just said "I hope we can do this in three hours incase we run into trouble". Either way, I'm excited and can't wait to see the results.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

Took me longer than needed but its all swapped :). For doing it by myself for the first time I was very cautious as always, wrote down every step and labeled cups full of bolts, labeled the lines, and took looooooooots of pictures (56 lol). Took it out for a spin this morning. It seemed that I gained some more timing at cruise/slow acceleration. Then I start giving it some hard throttle and sure as **** I lost all my boost haha. Took it home and saw that the line that goes from the T splitter that hooks up
to my boost gauge and then to my MAP vac line disconnected. Reconnected it and electric taped it together and vacuum is all good. Ill take it for a better drive on my way to work later and see how it goes. I really need to replace my vac lines l, especially the T fittings.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

Also thanks alot for all the help josh, was very helpful. As well as all the other members that helped answer my questions.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

Putting bolts in cups is a waste of time.....I always work on my cars in the driveway and depending on which car it is I either A) Put them all in a row in order it was removed so then you just move back up the row or B) (also car dependent) I just throw them all in a huge pile (always do that on my Intrepid lol I think I know almost every bolt and where it goes in the engine compartment lol)

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

i just took precautions since it was my first try. I definitely feel like i can do it much quicker next time. I really wanna get this damn exhaust leak or lift knocking gone so i can hear my car when i accelerate and not just hear the damn ticking.
