J57ltr's 05' GTP wrecked again.

Re: J57ltr's 05' GTP base model

Jeff..it's been boring with your car since you fixed that vacuum issue. Weren't you thinking about buying another car with issues?

Re: J57ltr's 05' GTP base model

Meh, this one will have issues soon enough. Besides no one wants to hear "Hey guys, I changed my plugs today I'm an awsome mechanic." Or "Hey guys that whistle that was driving me crazy was just the cabin airfilter plugged up." Or "Hey guys, my ghetto fabulous insulated airbox has dropped my IAT's more than I had hoped!"

Naw, I'll wait until I do something a little more worthwhile......

Re: J57ltr's 05' GTP base model

So I finally got all my parts in to make throttle body spacers and vortex rings! And now I can finally fix that damn heater core too. It's going to suck taking out the dash.

Re: J57ltr's 05' GTP base model

Looks good, I'd bet your water pump is going to last a lot longer with that core (from the added flow). I'd be willing to bet that you'll gain a few HP from less flow restriction, too. Makes me wonder why more people don't do this! I know someday I will. Make sure you drill the throttle body spacer for the coolant passages into the TB.

Re: J57ltr's 05' GTP base model

Shoot I deleted those long ago. I am going to have so many spacers in there it's going to look like African Neck Rings. Should be good for Eleventeen horsepower!

Re: J57ltr's 05' GTP base model

It's the rim, I am sure I bought it like that. Soon after I got it one of my coworkers was behind me and said my wheel was wobbling. Then on the way home in traffic coming from the race some lady said my wheel was loose. I stopped and got our dial indicator and checked the hub, less than .002" runout, mounted the new brake and put a few nuts to hold it and had less than .003" runout then put the wheel on and found that it is the rim. I was more hoping for the hub to be bad. Now time to find a rim.

Re: J57ltr's 05' GTP base model

So I was trying to connect to the fans in a way as to not cause problems with the PCM and thought I had it fooled. I had a hell of a time with the low speed fan wire, since there are 5 green wires and 2 green with white stripe. Well after testing all the white wires I was not able to find the low speed fan turn on. I'll look later. I did however find the high speed fan and decided to connect it and even diode isolated it so the PCM can't tell that the fan is on or not. Well the PCM is smarter than that and threw a code P0481 for cooling fan control circuit. This means that there is a bad connection, an open or short in the wiring. Now since it is isolated, but still can turn on the fans everything is working normally. My thought is that the voltage drop caused by the diode is causing the fault. Here is a schematic of what I have added:

Re: J57ltr's 05' GTP base model

I want manual control and those temps are too low.

I did however find that I am missing the foam bumper that blocks air from coming over the bumper (among other things) and the air duct that keeps the airflow under the bumper inlets and forces it into the radiator. haven't had any overheating issues since the temps dropped below 85. so I am picking up those parts at the JY this weekend.

Re: J57ltr's 05' GTP base model

It must be seeing that .7v drop, probably some fail safe to monitor the relay or something. What to do from here?
