Issue after intercooler install, car revs high then drops way low

We all agree it's a leak so I'm going to take the ic out of the equation, just want to make sure it's not a problem with the modified lim.

Now were getting some where LOL. Another intercooler install another one with issues....... Depending on where you live id highly highly recommend throwing that in the trash and running E85 instead if its available of course..........

Using an unlit propane torch has
Been used for a long time to find vacuum leaks. It does not work very well with small leaks and if you have a lot of them. If you add a hose to a regular propane torch and just barely turn it on then go to the suspect area and you should be able to find it.

With the ic off and keeping the modified lim in, with just a felpro gasket the engine started up and ran fine! I was suspecting the lim so I really wanted to test it. Now to take it back apart and reseal the ic and try some gaskets instead!

Would someone use their awesome paint skills and circle/mark where i need to put the rtv sealant on my Intercooler. I will keep cleaning them in the meantime! Also could a vac leak come from the EGR block off plate area if it was not sealed? If so that may have been my issue because when i thought i had tightened it down it was not completely tight the first time, it is not though!

Got everything back together, fired the car up and it ran!!!!!! Everything was reading normal in the scan for 5 minutes. I'm going to take it out on a test drive now.

Thanks all of you who helped me out in a very timely manner, it was greatly appreciated.

So I took the car for a test drive. Anytime I get into boost I get white( it's night so my best guess) smoke coming out of the exhaust. I know white smoke is coolant. There is no white smoke at Idle or normal cruise. I only got into boost 3 times for about 3 seconds each. Could this just be a little bit of coolant that got in there while I was working on it? I find it hard to believe it's a blown head gasket from the time I started working on my car a few days ago.

My guess right now is some coolant is leaking from my ic(maybe around the hoses) and is going into the LIM. Then when i go into boost it pushes the coolant into wherever it goes to get to the exhaust.

Pulled out some of the coolant from my IC so there shouldnt have been any left in the core and took it for a test drive, got into boost 4 times for a few seconds each. Still had the same amount of white smoke coming out of the exhaust.

I used 2 new felpro gaskets when i put the build together the last time. Looks like ill be taking it apart again tomorrow. Ill check back in here when i wake up to see if anyone posted.

Yup, found coolant under the LIM, the gaskets look fine but i will replace them. Wondering if the lim was not seated right and managed to leak coolant. Not sure if you can tell from this but do you think that is what happened?

Do you have one of those vacuum pumps that are used for bleeding brakes and such?

I would use pieces of plastic like plexiglass and put vaseline around the water jackets on the intake surfaces, plug the rest with plugs and pull a vacuum on the water jacket, maybe there is a crack or defective porting.

Put some oil down the lifter valley to help flush the coolant in the oil pan, then when everything is put back together, give the car an oil change before start up. I'd do the cheapest oil you can buy since it will most likely be drained shortly after, again.

Coolant in the engine, is no beuno.

You just need something flat, glass will work. If you have a plastics place in your town they will have scrap you can buy. 16 ga sheet metal. If you really need some I could send you some, just let me know what sizes.

Update for anyone curious. Took the new LIM back off. Ported my old one a bit and put it back on with new gaskets. Left the IC off for now as i messed up all of the allen key heads on them(my fault). Put the sc back on. Changed my oil, i saw only a very small amount of coolant in the oil(in the form of a few white bubbles). Took the car out for a test drive and its running like a champ! I saw no white smoke coming from my exhaust. Lets hope the coolant leak caused no damage, time will tell. Going to order more bolts and put the ic back on at a later date.

Again thanks for all the help you guys provided me, it was greatly appreciated.
