Just topped swap and i was wanting to replace my lines where the flex line meets the steel lines. I was thinking of replacing it with rubber hose up to the fuel rail and double clamping everything...Has anyone had a problem with this causing fires or something?

Never did that on a 3800 but most of a mustangs fuel lines we just built are rubber, a good portion on mine are rubber underneath my car

Seen it done on a Fiero, is this what your asking about?

Took this pic last weekend.

If you have trouble getting the line right at the plastic to metal, pull your drivers wheel and look at if in the wheel well. I recently did a couple braided conversions in that area. Only caveat was getting the lines out of the plastic cllips by the ABS.
