on my father's gtp the dash light dim out for few seconds when starting up the car. the battery connector bolt was strip out and loose, but i replace it. could this be an alternator problem or just normal on the 3800 grand prix?

I noticed mine does this too. I kept meaning to make a thread on it, but didnt know how to describe it. I would like to know if this is a problem or not too!

i dont think its a normal problem as my 00 GT never had this problem, but my "new" 99 GTP does have this problem. and its gotten to the point to where half of the dash lights will go completly dim

Do they stay dim or for a few seconds?

When I start my car, when I let go of the key the dash lights dim for about a second, then come back to normal.

The voltage drops when the car is starting FYI.

How much depends on the current draw of the starter.

See its really hard to explain...after the car is started, its like a second before the lights dim, then return to normal. And the rpms dont bog or anything, its like they dim independantly drom the starter or engine load...Id make a quick video, but my car is put away for the winter...

I don't think this is normal, my gt don't do that (yours its a gtp but it shouldn't matter) yes, there is a problem with that but I don't know how to fix it :) lol
