Intense Stage 3 Cam and S3 heads as a Daily Driver?

Spartan GL

Specialist Walter US Army
Nick said that the S3X cam wouldnt be a good daily driver cam and i asked him why he thought that. He never really answered it fully The build you see below is everything i currently have (except cam, heads, intercooler,TEP trans) i have the cash to buy them right this second but im holding off to right before i get home (for warranty reasons/Research). Ive been looking for a few answers on a few grandprix forums that i havent found yet. this is the build i currently have going on.

4.) what options do i need when im getting the trans built with this build?
5.) anything i need for this build that isnt listed?
6.) other all comments/concerns taken into account.

That setup is made for instant acceleration, has a lot of lope and will be tough to get a nice idle from. All these things tend to add up when you are attempting to DD a car.

Yes you can get used to the throttle and learn to drive semi normally
Yes you can deal with the car rocking back and forth at stoplights
Yes you can tune until you are old and tired to get the idle to seem better and the transistion from idle to speed etc.

The cam is made more for the track than the street.

everything is streetable. it's all up to what you determine to be streetable. we can't tell you if you'd drive it everyday and care or not.

also, just about everything bill said is true. running the TEP was fun, but it shook the damn earth when i wasn't cruising.

This.

And because of my idle/cam/valvesprings...

I just destroyed a double roller crank gear. So...your car...get at it and build it already.

Have Intense stage 3 cam I'd sell for $200 plus shipping its in the classifieds too my regal burnt down. Plans was to run a IS3 cam and Gen5. Have both forsale right now! $500 everything you need for the polished gen5 lim zzp hub and 3.4 plus gen5 to L67 TB adapter along with it. Willing to make a deal on the cam and Gen5 setup if bough all at once!

PS I don't know who makes the ZZP stainless brake lines, but get Goodridge. I've heard some scary stuff about some lines.

Definitely not a place to slack.

I already have a GEN V that is ported/polished with a ported LIM.
and i have a northstart TB.

but the S3X Cam and ZZP MPS i might be interested in. PM me with your prices on that

I already have the ZZP lines, but thanks my buddy has them and he love them.

I am dding my TEP car right now. Idle set at 800rpm.

hows it running for you? smooth idle at 800rpms? gas mileage?

This.

so you think the double roller chain is junk?

i just dont want mileage to suffer too much, and everything making pretty solid power without **** breaking left and right.

Safe power.

No such thing as safe power.
You have to run a double roller you dont have a choice with 130# springs
Idle is not too bad on mine.
Since you really have no idea what you want out of the car I would just go with like an xp or s1x cam.

Fast, Reliable, and Cheap...Pick 2.....

with that being said....Running a Sub 3" pulley, on a gen V, with a Cam, and all the goodies....you should expect your mileage to drop significantly....

Safe power isnt really something you can make... You can make lots of power, and make it as safe as possible, but it'll still go sometime...the more mods you have, the more upkeep you'll have on it.

Fast/Reliable (obviously i dont like cheap i try to buy the best parts i can for the car)

thinking the 3.0 for the GEN V would be better?

You wont know what pulley you can run till you get the car together and tune, for all the time you spend making threads, you should take a min and read old stuff that his info in it.

No...You'll need to start off with a larger pulley, and drop sizes until you start seeing knock, and tune the knock out for that pulley...

Also, running a 2.8 on a Gen V is pushing it...You'd probably make just as much power with a 3.0 setup, tuned more gooder

Thats what ive been doing for the past 2 weeks is reading old threads. none of them really have the answers i was looking for.

Thats what i was thinking just stick with the 3.0 pulley

Yeah, cause running sub 3 starts spinning that Gen V like crazy....be harder to cool all the heat it'll be creating.

Get a badass tune on a 3.0, and keep a 2.8 handy for the track, and pump in some 100+octane and have fun.

yeah thats what the intercooler is for :)

this thread is all kinds of ass backwards. you have never even experienced a cam and want to go all out, but you want a car that gets good mileage?

figure out what you really want (a car that sounds cool and looks good), then get back to us.
